Recently got on full boost and realized that my BB FP54 turbo had this loud whine (similar to a super charger). No boost was lost and car did not feel any slower. Pulled my intake pipe off and noticed two of the compressor wheel blades were bent. There was little to no shaft play and was able to spin the wheel freely without touching the housing.
I am looking to rebuild the turbo and would like some input as to what may caused this to happen. I have narrowed it down to afew things,
1.Boost leak caused over speed of turbo
2.Faulty BOV
3.Choked oil feed line/oil starvation (I recently added liqui moly ceratec to my engine oil during servicing)
4. Foreign object sucked into turbo.
I run an fp intake with maf and HKS filter so I doubt it’s due to a foreign object entering the turbo. Car was driving fine for months and I haven’t been to any track events. Turbo is about a year and a half old.
I’ve attached photos and a video of the noise for reference. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
The damage on the leading edge of every blade, and only one being bent makes me think it's foreign object damage.
yes. That was my initial assessment too. Just don’t see how debris could get past my filter and MAF. Unless it came from my synapse dv. Do you reckon I should remove all my intercooler pipings for a flush?

Bent tips at the end of one or two blades is almost always from compressor surge. I've seen plenty of turbos bend tips from being surged for hours in OE engine testing. They make all sorts of weird noises.
What's more concerning and makes me think of foreign object or excessive dirt is how rough the leading edge of each blade looks.

yeah I’m leaning towards a foreign object flying into the compressor wheel now. I have 0 flutter, even on partial throttle on my synapse dv. Will that eliminate the cause being compressor surge?
