What’s the pros and cons to switching t case

So I’m looking into fixing my ACD pump And was wondering if it would just be better to swap over to a non-ACD transfer case. What are the pros and cons to doing this?

The non ACD diffs are harder to find and when you do find them they are very expensive since this is a popular swap. Non-ACD eliminates the system complexity by ditching all the supporting hardware required to run the ACD, which also reduces weight and frees up space for a longer air filter because you ditch the pump and reservoir. I have seen people claim the non-acd allows for better corner response on the track, but I have no personal experience. English prefers the ACD for their drag car because by programing the controller they can tailor the lockup allowing the transfer case to survive the launch abuse. Obviously, if you want to keep the car original then you would keep the ACD. Most people take a harder look at the non-ACD swap when the ACD pump takes a crap since they are so expensive. If your pump is good and assuming the ring and pinion are available, fixing the ACD is the cheapest route.

FYI, the OEM ring and pinion is on back order from Mitsubishi with no foreseeable time frame when they will be available. There is an upgraded ring and pinion available (I believe) for and additional $400 or so, but you will have to check.

If you ever have a desire for a cusco clutch front diff, its way cheaper for an ACD t-case than a VCU t-case.

not even sure what the benefit of that is. But I’d keep my tcase either way.

Not true it will work. Some may say it's an upgrade over the stock helical front differential.

The only benefit over OEM helical is strength. The claimed added preload is pretty much gone within a few miles of driving. But really, you dont want that preload anyways. You want the front to be as free as possible off throttle. And the torsen acts as basically a 2way so engine braking and high steering angle has a tendency to add bias creating understeer. The best turning cars are basically open off throttle. But open on throttle really sucks.
