Evo 8 6spd Gearset Options

I've been asking/looking around the forum and a few different shops to see if there are any gearset kits that I can buy for the 6spd trans. I haven't found anyone that's still making them, and the only other option that I've found is Albins Gear through JackTrans, for like $5,000... Does anyone here know of anything that I could do to get a nice gearset to make sure my car stays on the road longer?

The Albins set is the only 6 speed set I think that is still around. A built 5 speed is cheaper than rebuilding the 6 speed.
That said, what is your concern with the 6 speed? Generally speaking, only 4th really has issues and only when its hot like on a road course. Hard street driving would require quite a bit of power to really make me worry.

Thanks for the response! My build is going to be pretty similar to what you've got going, but I've read/heard all the horror stories about those 6 speed so was a little scared of the thing . I'll just go with a syncro refresh for the time being then. Thanks for the response, cheers!

Yea, the 6 speed being weaker is a little overblown in my opinion. It is definitely worse for certain things like road racing or low RPM pulls in 4th as that's the thin gear in the transmission.
If you will be mostly street driving it, be mindful of how hard you have been running it and enjoy it. At the end of the day, we are making 2-3x the power so stuff will break, its part of the deal.

For what it's worth, putting in a stronger gear set does not fix the other, inherent design flaws of the six-speed.
I don't remember the exact details, but feel free to call TRE and ask about it.
It's bad enough that I gave up my beloved six-speed for a five. It goes much farther than just the gear set.
