Oil pressure Tap location on back of block 8 vs 9

Oil pressure Tap location on back of block 8 vs 9

The 8 has an oil pressure switch in the lower back center of the block under the intake manifold. I think this switch is moved to the oil filter housing on the 9.

My question is: Is the 8 port still on the 9 block but just blocked off with a plug?

Or is it deleted and no longer drilled or tapped?

Thanks

That port is used for the MIVEC line on the 9s I believe.

On the 9 its for the mivec line as stated, and its also an M10 banjo bolt. On the 8 its 1/8 pipe.

You could get a double banjo bolt and run a line to oil pressure sensor from there.

I had not thought of a double Banjo. Interesting idea, but I have a sandwich adapter that should have extra 1/8" - 27 NPT ports. I taped one to 14M x 1.5 and moved the temp sender off of the oil pan. I am going to see if the sender will fit and live down low. Electric VDO gauge, didn't want to bring mechanical oil pressure into the cars interior.

You will likely want to run a short line to the sensor mounted on the firewall. The engine vibration has been known to kill the pressure sensors in short order. Take a look at something like this for an idea.
