Diamond Racing Rear Subframe and TRE Rear Diff with MAX lock

Hello everyone,

Just got back into the Evo game with my 2nd Evo: an Evo 9.

The car was previously modded and while I am half-way smart on engine bay items I claim full ignorance with suspension and other items. This car came with a Diamond Racing Rear Subframe and a TRE rear differential with MAX lock. There is some info on the TRE rear diff but almost none that I can find on the Diamond Racing rear subframe -- there are threads on the front but not the rear.

Is anyone aware of more info one these or can point an old man in the right direction? Car is for mostly street driving and a few track days a year.

Diamond Race Cars make the subframe. Here is a link to their social media page since the website is down.

Shaves a few pounds off the rear and eliminates all the rubber. Likely not the best choice for a street car, your diff whine is going to be amplified through the cabin.

Thank you. I assume both comments are on the TRE rear diff with max lock. Do you have any more information? Would you recommend a different rear diff setup?

TRE's rear diff is just a fully working rear LSD IMO. It's as "clunky" as all the other fresh/new JDM diffs, you just need to find the right fluid for your purpose. For autocrossers, I think we dont care much about the clunkiness/aggresiveness

No, my comment was about the subframe. All Evo diffs whine, but they have rubber mounts to prevent that NVH from reaching the cabin & driver. A fabricated subframe solid-mounts the diff so that there is nothing to absorb the noise, it's going to amplify inside and be very noticeable.

The MaxLock is fine, it's a very popular and effective upgrade. It's going to clunk a bit more, but it's not going to be much louder than stock.
