Rear diff locked up --- where can I send it to be rebuilt???

I'm pretty sure my rear diff is locked up. In tight slow turns either way the car slows down, and I have to give it more gas to turn. With the windows down, you can hear the rear wheels skipping like their locked. I had it looked at and they said the same thing.

Does TRE or Shep rebuild rear diffs? Or am I better off trying to find a used one on here? How about just getting it rebuilt here in town?

Any help would be appreciated.

The search button did nothing for me. Too many "differential" or "diff" threads that do not pertain to my problem.

Just jacked up the rear end of my car, then jacked up the rear of my friend's Evo 9 MR.

The rears do the same exact thing.

Could that mean my rear diff ISNT messed up?

What fluid did you put in when you serviced it? Wrong fluid can make it do nasty stuff like bind.

The fluid has to have friction modifier in it like redline 75W90 has.

I've been using Mobil 1 75w90 ever since my first fluid change after I got the car at 35,000. The car now has 50,8xx miles

What are symptoms of a locked center diff?

Redline 75w90 can be used in the rear diff with no problems.

I have been rebuilding and modifying the EVO rear differentials for nearly 4 years. I can achieve about 40% more lock-up and this really helps the EVO when it comes to getting it to turn. The car actually rotates when you get on the throttle versus understeering upon exit of a turn. This is proving itself to be worthwhile for those who are road racing the EVO. As we all know an EVO can chase a WRX into a turn but can't keep with it after the apex because the WRX rear diff works better and the WRX enjoys heavy throttle input, accelerating at the exit, while the EVO pushes wide..... well not anymore.

With the added lock-up the EVO can even require some counter steer to keep it from coming around if you don't get off the throttle which means now can quit trying to set the suspension to coax the EVO to finish the turn and focus on setting it up for max grip.

PM me for info.
