Gday guys, new to the forum. Just had a question but first heres my situation, after a successful rebuild of my engine my gearbox now knocks only when in first gear and only when moving. My question is are the internals from a 4g63 FWD similar to the internals in my gearbox just to change first gear ??

 

The answer is no, but I'm confused how it's "knocking", and only in 1st gear. The gears are always in mesh, I don't see how it's possible that you can produce a knocking sound.

 

thank you for the reply, i was told it could more than likely be the input shaft bearing ? Or something along those lines and that its only more noticeable in first gear but in reality its doing it in all gears

 

Find a competent shop to diagnose it properly since it could be an axle, the prop shaft, the transfer case, or so many other things. If it's inside the transmission, you're basically in for a full rebuild.
