Hey guys, i recently purchased my first evo (7) 2.2L nitto stroker.
she blew up on me on day 2. so im doing a full rebuild. i will attach a photo of my build, my builder has told me it is capable of 1000hp.
the current turbo is the FP Zero IX. ive had a few tuners told me i will get max 450kw atw with this turbo.
i am thinking with a fresh built stroker only having 450kw would be a waste of a build? looking at some advice if i should just keep current set up, run it and have fun first. or change the turbo and make a comfortable 700/800hp.
My personal opinion is an FP red or black is about as big as I would want with a stock frame. An MHI red is good for around 550-600whp. A black about 50whp more all in. The SS housing 50whp+ on both. The new SS housing helps some but the back pressure and flow are still not ideal. I'd perfer a big turbo to go to 8500-9500 proud if its going to come online at 5000-5500. Now if you are only going for 700whp your current turbo may be ok below 8500 and moderate boost.
What you don't want is high backpressure/rpm and not being able to clean out the combustion chamber .
I think Ben hochman went from a Zero to a full size turbo and it picked up over 10mph in 1/4 and was easier on engine parts.
I would move into a gen 2 6466 or a xona 6469s or so for 700whp+. If you had a dogbox a xona 6869 is hard to beat for 900+whp.
