Hello everyone I'm very new to evos and forums.
I was driving yesterday and my alternator belts decided to pull its self apart and the AutoZone i limped it to had a belt for the evo 8 but it was way to big unfortunately. I cant seem to find any answers on what belt part# i can get from a local parts store that actually works i was under the impression from reading the pdf manual i found that as long as the vehicle in there system had the 4g63t or the 2.0L FI Turbo Dohc 4 cyl , i believe is how there system breaks it down any belt from that would work but i seem to keep coming up wrong. Any help would be awesome and appreciated my daily craped out so i have to fix this soon. Thanks ahead of time for reading and any help
Does your car have AC? That might be the length difference you are seeing. I know I have seen a part number floating around of a no AC belt but don't have it off the top of my head.
You could also try a belt from an eclipse possibly?
Yes it's has ac and that was my thought as well I've gotten the gsx eclipse belt and the only belt they have for any year evo in there system at the store I was thinking mabey if they had one for an old mirage I belive is the other car
Based on some real quick googling for part numbers, I found the link below.
It seems like the linked belt is roughly 400mm longer than the evo 8/9 belt. Is the evo one too small?
This is the one I recently tried for the 2008 evo but once I get it all routed it still has an inch or two of extra belt hanging from the p/s pully but it's then only belt that shows up until we go so far back in years the evo is no longer available in the parts finder I'm also banking on the parts store being correct a bit to much here honestly

That explains it, you have an evo X belt there but need one for an evo 8/9. Try a belt look up for an 03-06 evo, I bet that's the right one.
The evoX doesn't have a 4g63, it has a 4b11. Different engine, different routing, different belt.
Ahh yeah I forgot they changed the whole platform on the last one well I have a 705k6 now and it's 71.03in in circumference and I'm not sure if it's a me thing or the wrong belt because it's just barely to small to go over the last pully lol. Dose this motor have any adjustable brackets any where like on the altenator or is it all fixed mounts
Dose it make a difference if it's an import from Japan for any motor stuff I wouldn't think It would but I'm at belt #5 now so I'm up for anything

Pretty sure thats the right belt. They are a bit of a squeeze to get on the pulleys.
I am not sure about JDM vs USDM cars, based on what I have seen, it shouldn't matter.
Allright I'll keep working it I appreciate the help and time my first project was a vqde so this is all a different world now if I could just find breaks for the evo I'd be set but I'll update if I get it on
So the first belt was near impossible to get over the last pully and so I went and got the slightly longer gates belt and I get all the way to the p/s pump and even using a pry bar to kinda roll it on I can not for the life of me get the belt on ill include a picture of how close I am so I'm just not sure if it's something I'm messing up
I don't know man. It looks like it should be the same belt. I know when I do it, I always start at the power steering pump and end at the crank pulley I think. Its been a few years since I did mine.
