Serpentine Belt Adjustment HELP!

Hey Guys,

I'm in process of installing the AMS A/C delete on a EVO X GSR. I need to adjust the tension on the Serpentine/Accy belt. Anyone know how I would be able to do so?

Thanks..

I've been helping a friend with his X, that's why I made an account. We recently replaced the serp belt and it is indeed auto-tensioned. We did have some trouble with the belt routing though since the old belt had snapped. Is there a good resource for this kind of info for this car?

Make sure you have the correct (shorter) belt. It will tension automatically

Im pretty sure the AMS a/c delete kit uses the standard length belt. Maybe you should call them to be sure.

You're right. My bad.

The AMS EVO X A/C Delete Kit allows for removal of the compressor, lines and condenser for a weight savings of 20 lbs. The black anodized billet aluminum bracket with CNC’d AMS logo is lightweight and durable for a long life. This kit is easy to install and utilizes your factory serpentine belt for simplicity.

So it should just tension up like normal, as it was stock.

To the ones that had useful information Thanks! but one other question.. How do you release the tension on the belt, so I can unbolt the a/c compressor?

And to the ones with the stupid comments... I can tell you send your car to a shop and pay them to have your work done..

most vehicle with auto tensioners should have a dedicated bolt on the tension arm to have a wrench attached so you can push down and release tension, allowing removal of the belt.

This.

On the 8/9, it's a square hole that accepts a 1/4 drive . You pull it towards you to de-tension it.
