Question Problem w/Starter? Help!!

I parked my car the other day and when I went to start it back up the engine wouldn't even begin to turn, it just made this rapid clicking sound that is simular to a dead battery but much fast and louder. I taked to som machanics I know and they said it might be the solenoid in the starter over heating.

I go to leave work this morning and there is a hiccup in the ignition. The engine has a quick stutter when it is turning over and I'm wondering if it is the starter that is going bad and not the solenoid. Has anyone run into this problem or has an idea on what could be wrong?

Mods: HKS RS intake and AMS Turboback with test pipe. 14k miles

I think you pretty well diagnosed what might be wrong. Bring it to the dealership. That is certainly a warranty issue. And your mods in no way effect the normal operation of the starter....so they little ground to stand on if they try to refuse warranty coverage.

I'm not one for trying to trick dealers because I strongly believe in the 'pay to play' philosophy. But, considering how **** the dealerships are being I would put your stock air box back on just in case. Even if they don't void the warranty for this particular problem they might make note of it which will create problems down the line. They noted my Buschur air filter when I took my car in for a clunk in the rear end.
