MBC Install Probs. Help!?!

I installed a Hallman RX Pro tonight and I am experiencing the symptoms of having the tubes hooked up to the wrong openings of the MBC. Except I have that part right. I tried a few configs and finished here - and it still doen't work. I can get 11 psi with a spike to 12. I have the sideways opening of the MBC now T'd into the vaccum line between the BOV and intake. I have the straight end opening of the MBC connected to the wastegate actuator. I have the vaccum tubes to the stock solenoid removed and the intake tube hole plugged along with the turbo outlet hole plugged. What the hell is the problem?

with any manual boost controler the fitting opposite the adjustment knob will go to the source, or in your case line ot the bov/intake

the line with the fitting 90 degrees from the adjustment knob goes to the wastegate actuator.

if you havent already, try switching the lines.

take it out and take it appart (if it will come apart) make sure it was put together right, ive never seen a hallman put together wrong, but once i got this cheap piece of junk and the spring was installed before the ball (wtf?), the wastgate stayed open all the time and the car wouldnt boost over 11, if not try using the turbo outlet as a soure instead of the bov line

how many turns is the valve opened at this point? I had to open it several (2??) turns before I got boost up around 18 or so PSI where I could tune it.. Look for a blockage or kinks.. also verify the "Weep Hole" isn't blocked (if you look in the side of the fitting you should see one of them on the MBC has a small hole in it..)

EDIT: Oops.. this is the hallman, it has a ball/check valve, it should be opened all the way and then tightened to restrict flow through it.. When its fully opened, shake it to make sure oyu can hear the ball moving in it....

I will take it apart. I tried using the turbo outlet the first time I hooked it up. Didn't work.

malibu is right, with any boost controller youll have to turn em several turns before they will even raise the boost at all

I have a Hallman, I would check to make sure it is hooked up right like everyone else has suggested. For me I actually had to switch springs to get it to make enough boost...

Yup, I finally got it. I took it apart as suggested by projektz and the light spring had to be removed as it did not fall out. I decided to put the heavier spring in and reinstalled it. This is time it would boost to about 13 psi so I pulled into a gas station and popped the hood and turned it two full turns and now it holds almost exactly 19.5 to redline. How's that for quick tuning? Hehe, the install took 7 hours though. Haha. Thanks for all your help guys. Should it feel night and day faster? Because it doesn't....

Hi,

A Hallman MBC was basically my first mod and no, it didn't make a huge difference, but it did help somewhat. If you do exhaust mods and fuel tuning to feel a nice difference. I'm looking forward to cams for even more of a meaty powerband.

Take care,

Yeah, I agree.. holding boost through redline made the car feel alot better, but not super dramatic.. when I added the 3" turbo back exhaust and a filter (though I don't really recommend the filters without tuning for them) it was like night and day.. woke the car up alot.

Awesome, thanks guys. I currently have the Hallman putting 20.5 psi to redline, a K&N drop in with the top cut open, a Perrin cat delete, a custom 3 inch catback. How much HP do you think I am putting to the wheels? I am getting the basic dynoflash on Friday. How much HP after the flash? Thanks!
