I have been wondering when I need to swap out the plugs. I am approaching 11,000 miles.

Anyone ever order their plugs from ngk.com before? If so, what are your experiences with them. I'm thinking about getting my plugs from there.

How do you gap iridium plugs? Mine came at .029 and that is too wide. Then, the typical tap, tap, to narrow the gap didn't work and I didn't want to damage the plug. Friends said you can't gap them yourselves. True?

Iridiums are a ***** to gap.

I broke a few when I tried to gap some NGK iridiums for my wife's WRX.

I had the Densos IW24 and I was getting misfire either because they were fouled from running too rich and/or because they were gapped a little too wide. Anyway, you need to be very careful. The instructions say to not even try, but it can be done.

The Densos came at ~.028 which is pretty good.

Does anyone know where the stock plugs should come gapped at? ALso what the NGKs (iX) referenced in this post should come gapped at? I will either try the coppers next, they're easy to gap, or get another set of stock NGKs or the NGKiX if they are gapped appropriately.

Finally, Iridiums should have a fairly long life, similar to platinum as long as they don't foul. Coppers you would want to replace more frequently. In my previous cars (Integra GSR with N20 and Audi Ar 1.8T) I used NGK coppers and changed them every 10k miles or less. I've already switch to the Densos at 15K, then back to the stockers at 20k (I have 24K miles now). I'll probably change them at 30K...

Take care,
