Incidentally, and sorry for the O.T. question, but in reference to the OEM crush washer that you mention. Does anyone know whether it matters which side of the washer faces the pan and which side faces the drain plug when installing the washer? I ask because the two sides are not identical. One side extends out farther than the other. Are the two faces swapable? Or, is there only one proper way to orient the washer when installing it? Sorry for the Newb question!
I change my oil every 5k miles. That 5k generally has daily-driving, autocross, and dyno time in it. My friend goes longer than I do (8k miles) and his oil analysis from Backstone Labs came back great. There is no reason for 3k mile changes, especially when using a synthetic, all its doing is driving up the price of oil/gas even further.
