Red face Problem, i dont know whats wrong.

Ok, im pretty keen to alot of parts on the car but the brakes are one thing im not knowledgable about.

My brakes are squeeling badly when i try to stop. and they Vibrate when braking.

I only have 2,080 miles on it, ive had the problem since 1400.

I broke in the brake system, but the car came w/ 150 miles so i think whoever test drove it drove it hard.

Also i cant get the car into second gear sometimes, it just grinds and grinds and grinds and grinds badly. Is this a second gear syncro? i dont know what that is, but someone told me that might be the case?

Thanks for your help

And I am sure they will....both of the problems you describe seem to be common on the evo
the brakes squealing will happen...until you get more use on them.
The rotors do do this when new...again, I would use them more do not get them resurfaced
the syncro problem is worth taking up with them
Just my 0.02c

This may sound silly but make sure you are fully pushing down the clutch pedal. Some people who sit gangsta' style far from the wheel don't really have the leg length to push the clutch all the way to the floor. Also make sure your floor mats are not interfering with the clutch action.

On the issue with the squeeling, the breaks should squeel a little. Mine do after some hard driving but then, it goes away. This was my concern when i first got my car. If you take it to the dealer they will tell you its normal. I read a memo to the mitsu dealers addressing this. The memo also stated that they should not have to change the rotors or pads unless they are VIBRATING. I think, if you take it in, let them know first, about the vibration. I think a lot of evo guy's brakes squeel because the amount of brake dust them things release.

I just wanted to reiterate here that the squealing is perfectly normal for high performance brake pads. It shouldn't happen when you are using the brakes hard though. If it's just in normal street use and they chatter sometimes while gently breaking it is of little concern. If you hear it during heavy breaking as well you should look into applying some high temp compounds to help prevent excessive chatter.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=77123 is a good writeup on some products to try and how to apply should you find it overwhelmingly annoying.
