David, I was thinking about buying the 440 kit in the near future but I am having some reservations about it.

I'm worried that it might not be enough power to keep me happy for a long time. If I had the 440 kit could I swap the turbo to a 580 in the future? If so how much would just the turbo cost? Thanks, John

David: was the 541whp from the BR580 made with pump gas or race gas? Would this turbo support a 10 sec car? My goal is 10.xx in the 1/4. I am almost done with everything except the turbo upgrade so I am starting to assess my options. Thanks in advance.

i would really like to drive one of these bigger turbo set ups with the ems tuning to see what regular driveability is like.....im not a big believer in driving radical drag/race cars on the street....if driveability is good in my opinion, i would buy one.

I've driven about 2k with the 580 on my EVO. All types of driving conditions and I LOVE the driveability. Spool up is great, passing at highway speeds without downshifting is effortless. Combine that with excellent build quality and great price, you can't lose.

Having driven Robi's car last weekend, I can tell you this thing is a beast. Spools quick and hits like mad.

Even if it was 1000$ more, it would be tough to beat a kit like this.

David;

thanks for your response !! That helps me decide to go with your kit.

I will be upgrading to BR580 kit pretty soon with the U-Tec. I know I need to upgrade my clutch (XEDY Twin Disc), but is anyone still running stock clutch on a BR580 kit? How long will the stock clutch holds, assuming I drive normal - maybe couple hard pulls time to time?

BTW - How's the idle on the BR580? will it be the same as stock?

David, whats the fuel setup you're using to achieve the 541whp (injectors, pump, lines, etc.).

Also, would a toluene mixture allow me to run higher boost with 94 octane and lets say 10% toluene mixed? I've had great success with toluene when it comes to detonation and keeping duty cycles down. I mixed some of my rocket fuel mixture and added to a friends rx7 and the duty cycle on 11psi 3rd gear went down from 95% to 73%, and knock was significanlty low (or different at least). Also, have you added the water/alcohol injection yet to the vehicle?

Thanks ahead for the reply. I can say that Im a proud owner of a Buschur 580 kit going into an evo 5 GSR.

regards,

Lee

David, that is some good power on the 580. Looks like another good option for people looking for a simple stealth set up.

We have never had a manifold crack.

Wow, lots of questions..here are lots of answers.

Well RNR just answered the question, they say they have never had a manifold crack. My opinion, sooner or later any tubular header is going to crack. He says different, maybe he is right.

Cost on upgrading to the BR440 to the BR580 will be $1075, depending on mileage and condition of the BR440/500 you have we can take it back on trade.

The 541 whp we made on the BR580 was with race gas and yes it will support a car DEEP into the 10's. We have gone 10.0's at 140 mph in quite a few different DSM's with 540 whp.

Spool up in the BR440 is like stock in the EVO. The BR500 I have street driven yet. The BR580 hits 20 psi by 3800 rpm.

The stock clutch and the BR580 won't work together if you plan to launch the car. If you aren't going to leave hard with the car the stock clutch may last for awhile.

Idle and the BR580? A turbo change will NOT effect idle. Idle is controlled by fuel management. So on our car and the others we have installed our turbo kits on the idle/driveability have been perfect, AEM EMS controlling them.

Fuel set up for our car at 541 whp is quite simple. We have our complete Stage 1-4 kit on the car. This includes the BR fuel pump upgrade and the 680 cc injectors. The fuel lines, fuel tank, fuel rail and the fuel pressure regulator are all 100% stock on the car. Fueling is just done with our pump, injectors and the AEM EMS.

I have no experience with Toluene, so I can't answer the question about that. I have not put the water/alcohol injection kit on the car yet.

The BR440 turbo kits can ship now. We had (6) BR500 kits here yesterday. These were all shipped. I just put a call into the turbo shop, I am waiting on a call back to see when more of the BR500's will be done.

Customer picked up the EVO we had here that went 11.3 at 23 psi of boost. Cool guy, if you are here, nice meeting you Matt. Rode in the car for a test drive with him, DAMN does this car pull hard. Had hoped we was going to go to the track with us tonight but wanted to get on the rode back home. It is amazing how far the parts and tuning has come. This car runs and idles like stock and is putting down well over 500 whp, it is just nasty. Looking forward to hearing what he runs with the car at 30 psi of boost.

Take care,

David Buschur

Just so everyone knows..... The BR580 kit was a breeze to install. I would suggest a lift, if possible, but damn it was cake. The craftsmanship is top notch! David (& Crew), I'll have it on the Dyno next week, so I'll be posting some numbers here for ya.

540whp with 680cc injectors only? I guess with race gas possible to keep decent (yet high) duty cycles, but what about on pump gas? Wont the injectors max out?

Do you think I would benefit from a lets say -6 lines with a sumped tank and maybe a bosch or aermotive a1000 pump? How much does your fuel pump cost?

So I understand that the 580 kit is a DIRECT bolt-on NO FABRICATIONS of any kind needed and it includes EVERYTHING there is for the installation. Is this correct?
