I just went out and looked at mine. That cooler sits very close to the outside edge of the bumper cover. Someone could easily back into the car leaving no visible damage and smash that thing up. The cover is very soft in that area. I would look on the inside of the bumper cover and see if there are any gouge marks in that area. If there are, I would bet someone tagged you in a parking lot or something.

Yeah, I just took them off to polish 'em and clean the back side a little. It's got some of the sticky black crap that's found on the underside of the car. Yeah yeah, I'm a freak.

Yeah, I'm definitely calling the dealership tomorrow to find out what's going on...

that is definitely bizarre, but i guess the most logical explanation would be that someone hit you, but it seems that someone would have to hit you fairly hard to put that kind of dent in the oil cooler. Good luck fixing the situation, let us know the outcome.

To prevent salt corrosion when your car was taking it's cruise over here to the states

I would check with the dealer and see if maybe something happened to it on the dealer lot and they never said anything about it.

How long have you had the car?

I would also try and get warranty coverage for that

Had the car since March of last year. It has a Jan 03 build date.

Yeah, it's definitely bizarre... I don't even know how I'm supposed to mention it to them.

"Uh, my oil cooler is busted but I don't know how."

Just tell them you took off the bumper and the oil cooler looks mashed for no reason...and that it needs to be fixed ASAP.
