leak at boost gauge??? or faulty gauge?

Man I'm having hell with my autometer, replaced the little crush washer things that go on each end of the vacume line hoping that my leak was coming from there, when mounting the gauge back to the steering wheel column with the autometer gauge pod I noticed that the dial would change position with how much I tightened the band around the gauge pod so I loosened it as much as I could while keeping the pod in position. When I got on the highway I nailed it and it showed 10psi, now I know I'm producing more boost than that, you can feel it, have been trying to adjust my new Hallman Pro RX the past few days and really don't want to crank it down to get 20.5 if my gauge is whack. Any help in this situation would be greatly appreciated guys.

Az3ar, where do you have your boost gauge tapped into, near the throttle body or the FPR line? Also do you guys think the hard clear plastic vac line included with the autometer gauges is good or should I run a rubber or silicone line?

I definitely ditched the clear plastic line for a rubber line. It's just too easy for that plastic thing to get kinked or punctured and cause errors. BTW, I think mine is tapped near the throttle body. The gauge pod also has to be just right for it to sit and run perfectly. I made a custom gauge mount and had to dremel it a little for the gauge to work properly.

Actually they have a copper line kit to use in place of capillary tubing.. The tubing is easy to kink, but if your tightening it down, and its moving when tightening against the base or cup, then the gauge may be defective.. I've been using autometer (Sport Comp or Pro Comp) gauges for years so from personal experience, they rarely give me trouble...

I used the AutoMeter Boost Gauge and I had the same problem.

The first problem was the crappy hard plastic line not being long enough and breaking like a straw. I replaced the whole damn thing with vacuum line (10ft)

That posed another problem..now the vacuum line they gave me would not line up without leaking so...

I want to three different hardware stores to get a brass nipple that mounted to the gauge and fit the new vacuum line.

Also remember to use a butt load of silicone tape to prevent leaks.

Hopefully my trial and error will help you.

ok, ditched the plastic vacume line and put some nice 1/8 copper line in it's place, routed it all very nicely no kinks anywhere, picked up some new ferrules (crush washer things) and slapped it all back together very carefully, gauge seems good, had a bit of idle stumble at start up and a few times on test drive, there must be another boost leak somewhere. I hit 19 psi in first and second, pulled over, torqued my Hallman Pro RX down for some more boost, took off and all I pulled was 19 psi again, pulled over, repeated and this time the gauge showed 19 with slight taper to 18. WTF? I have my Hallman hooked up exactly like this.

I used the white plastic becasue it's hard and it will give you the ultimate reading however its easy to brake. Just be carefull. I used the hose right on the TB

i am also having a problem with a vacuum leak. after installed the bushur FMIC and intercooler piping this problem started. I thought it was the ****ty Autometer gauge so I ditched it and bought a defi gauge. low and behold, the problem is still present. What are all the vacuum lines?
