I am not sure if they do or dont offer them. I am pretty sure however that having such a high duration and a higher then stock lift is what makes these cams great at 7krpm and higher. However if you rev to where they are suppose to be run at you are causing quite a bit of stress on the stock valve train. Im sure it will run fine but for how long is the question.

If you don't get valve bounce with the stock springs with the HKS cams - and people don't seem to - going to heavier springs will just cost horsepower and increase wear.

I talked to David Buschur on the Phone the other day about this. Since I have the engine open and figured if I do this once I might was well do everything now. I want low-end power, real low end. He said to keep the stock cams, plain and simple.

Dave Buschur had some long and detailed posts about the valvetrain in his thread about the head rework he was doing.

So you guys are saying that stock cams are better for road racing (or fast twisty drives) or is really low, low-end power just your preference?

Since I'm always over 5k on the track, I'd say go for 272's.

i just installed my 272's w/no cam gears, springs ect. all i can say is these cams haul ***!! the idle is not bad @ all & the low end is noticeable but if you race there is no way you would notice it being above 4k rpm. there are many people running 272's on stock springs here in utah with 2g's and no problems. hks grinds there cams perfect this is why i went with them, good luck on your choice.

Talking

Here is a video of my cams that are also HKS but 264i 272e. They run great and sound great. Very little loss on low end and great pull mid and top. I run the Stock valvetrain and it sounds as smooth as stock, no issues.

Springs on 2G aren't the same as an Evo. It remains to be seen whether stock Evo springs can survive long term with higher lift cams.
