I read some articles on and it's very user friendly. It does everthing my POWER FC w/ COMMANDER does..but bonus is the mapping and setting program is all window based All you do is just disconnect the e-manage(ECU) from your car then take inside to your PC then use the program (provided as option part for the ECU) your can even print out the data from last run or series of runs I'm hoping the other CO. follow suit, and make computer setting more user friendly. Only thing I didn't like was monocolor of the monitor...color read outs would of been nice change....My Commander is a pain to read sometimes at night When you get your MOTEC can share your insights??? I wanted one but the price....way too expensive in JAPAN

ishi - have you looked into the FC-datalogit?
it allows you to do a ton more with your PFC - and they are pretty reasonable. they are becoming very popular in the fd world right now. the new AEM isn't tested enough for most people, and the Haltech is tricky, esp for people that don't like removing lots of stuff from under the hood. I don't know if the datalogit is out for the Evo (any version) but it is probably worth a look.

anyone know if AEM is planning on producing their unit for the Evo? (or is it out now???)

FC-datalogit... Hmm ive never heard of them... There is whole new line of companies making standalone and piggy back systems nowadays. I'm looking to go w/ a company that can do from controlling your yaw controll, to monitering your exhaust temp all in one system. That's why feel that motec seems to be on the top of my list. I hear they have the best Wide band 02 sensor, anyways, yea so that new Greddy porduct, would you get it for an Evo 7? Also Ish, my cousin was stationed out in Okinawa for the Marines, must be nice over there.... GOOD GREEN TEA!

The AYC is not controlled in the ECU it is in a separate control unit. Motec does not have a plug and play replacement for any car that I know of. The wide band is an expensive option also. The datalogging option is also much cheaper on a GEMS. The basic Motec does not support, idle control, A/C or knock sensing.

The Motec only runs with a MAP sensor which is not too bad an idea anyway. It does require a harness to be made and new sensors to be installed.

I prefer the GEMS but there are other plug-in ECUs. I won’t say that any are plug and play. The mapper is more important than the actual ECU.

BTW, the AEM unit is made by GEMS.

Some other plug-in ECUs to consider.

Some people discuss the Autronic system.... The whole auto-tune seems very impressive, but then again the extent of the tuning depends on what sensors you have. Again a wide-band 02 sensor would work wonders w/ this setup. Any1 ever try the Autronic so far, i've yet to heard comments on it, and how its worked w/ their Evo.
