GReddy Profec B spec II tuning, need help

I recently put a GReddy Ti exhuast, apexi downpipe and a profec B spec II EBC on my evo. I thought I had tuned the EBC properly as I wasn't reading any more than 17 or so psi on my guage but a few hours later I promptly blew my engine up. Seeing as how I would like to avoid repeating this again cause I'll have to rob a bank to pay for it this time. Does anyone have any good settings for this controller for running around 20 or so psi safley? Also any recomendations as to what levels I should use for the different setting options on the controller? I will have the car professionaly tuned eventually but I want a setting that I can use to at least get to the shop without blowing another engine. Also does anyone know if Faze gauges are wortha damn, I only ask to see if mine is reading boost properly or if it is just a piece of junk thats been giving me wrong readings.

Thanxs for any tuning advice for this controller in advance.

it is something other than your boost controller that would blow it up. The ECU would compensate for it and could get fuel cut. I would look into a diff. reason for your engine blowing

Wow thats really odd, 17 psi and your engine went! First of sorry about your first incident that must of sucked bad. I myself am running the profec B spec II at 20 psi, I have an electrical 60 mm greddy boost gauge and I also log boost via a 3 bar gm map sensor. They are all displaying the same thing and the engine is holding up great. I feel there is more to the story than posted. Were you reading the peak numbers on your profec unit, whether psi or bar? Did you have your warning set up?

I do admit setting this thing up for the first time can get really tricky. I had help from members online and from friends that live near by that gave some time to help me out in understanding and getting it to run right.

That's strange. Are you sure your engine is gone and if so it's due to the profec? Only a hi boost/lean engine combination would ruin your day with the mods you list. Did any of the hoses for the EBC come loose? Check the hose that reads boost - especially if you t'd into the fuel regulator vacuum hose.

thanxs all but the engine is deffinatly gone, had it checked today. I blew the rings, damaged the crank, and threw a rod the dealer says. I'm really not sure how I did it either cause the last peak boost read by my controller was 175. now on the Greddy unit this either means 17.5 psi or 1.75 bar I think. either way the engine should have held together so I'm thinkin it was deffective to begin wit. DRevo u said u have the same controller, are there any numbers that u could recomend I run to start off with and tune from there? Also what is this "cap" that I keep hearing people refer to? they say it should be removed to prevent boost fall off. has anyone done this and if so is it worth it? what are the drawbacks of it and if its safe where is the cap that has to be removed?
thanxs

If it read 1.75 bar instead of 17.5 psi then you were boosting to 25 - 26 pounds which is bad on pump gas. If you are on the stock ecu then I don't know how you didn't hit fuel cut/boost cut if you were boosting 25 - 26 psi, unless you've had a reflash.
