I am one who is awaiting for this kit as well, and I hope it is not too long in coming.

It seems the present IC piping options are not very attractive to those of us who want to keep the stock airbox and/or don't want to spend what seems like a ridiculous sum for a few pipes. The RVM kit sold on Ebay is proof that a decent complete kit with good fit and finish can be offered for ~$300, which seems acceptable. The only drawback is that it seems that it will not work (?) with the stock airbox.

The Injen kit looks fine...but you get no lower IC pipe and are forced to accept their intake.

The UR kit looks fine but pricey, the RMR kit even more so. The Ralliart kit is ridiculously expensive.

The HKS kit is also pricey, and requires that you use your intake.

The Greddy upper IC pipe looks maybe ok, but you'd have to combine it with the AMS lower to get a complete kit, which works out to around $400.

If the Helix kit includes an upper and lower that looks decent and fits the factory airbox...for ~$300, count me in. It would be great if they could toss in an optional intake pipe for maybe an extra $200.

Cool! Glad to see greddy came out w/ an affordable upper ic pipe. From the pic, it maintains the same BOV tube location like stock so it should be compatible with the stock or MR BOV.

dryad001 - thanks for the pics. that is a pretty nice looking kit.

blackevoVII - this was gonna complete my mods for a while. thats why im looking into it. i noticed the gain in my gst back when i did it, and i noticed a gain the few miles i had the hks kit on. exhaust, intake, mbc, bov, upper i/c, s-afc2, and looking into flashing the ecu (as long as it doesnt void warranty). then im just gonna hang out until the warranty is up and plan my next steps. im keeping it simple because im feeling a bit of a bite getting into 2nd (car has 17500+ on it) so im waiting to get worse and take it in. which just means for safety sake ill have to take off a few things. my gst went at 45,000 so it was something i was expecting anyway.

marksae - yeah, i can see its the same positon i just didnt know if it was the greddy flange or just pipe to clamp the stock hose on. i assume it would be a greddy flange.

gt40 - i have the mandrel bent "fence post" on my gst with the 1gen bov. its been in the car for probably near 120k miles... no problems what so ever.

Buschur's UIP is sweet. It looks pretty much like gt40's piping. It is the most direct way of getting your air from your IC to the intake mani.

QUESTION: these aftermarket ic piping kits... will you have to adjust any? they fit stock? i've heard the hks ones need modifications to fit? what factors should one consider when buying IC piping?

if one were to get an aftermarket IC later, will these pipes still fit fine? will modifications be needed?

i'd like to get a mini battery as well, is the stock battery the only real consideration for fitment?

hueman - the hks fit in with the stock box. youd just have to find a hose to recirc with and would probably be easier to connect to a metel intake pipe (so you arent connecting rubber to rubber)
the UR kit appears like it could fit with the stock box
greddy also looks as if it has room
and from the pipe shape i think the rvm would work (never seen it in a bay though)

buschur youd need the mini battery as youve stated and since the pipes cutting that way at least the buschur cone to replace the box

the injen comes with intake so that takes care of that pretty much.

those are the only ones ive seen.

Who sells the EVO8 HKS IC pipes here in the states? I really like the one that comes with the FQ series EVOs in the UK, but no one seems to sell it here. The ones I see are for the EVO7 and don't really fit too well with the stock battery and airbox.

You can find it here: http://www.boost-solutions.com for $620.

Look in the Intercooler section.

I asked them about that one before and they told me it's for the EVO7 and will not work with the stock battery or airbox. It's not the one they have on the FQ EVOs.
