i got a good question for anyone who has a definite answer.. how much power can you be pushing that the Stock Intercooler would still be good for???

I'm making 360+ whp on a stock intercooler. Stock IC pipes too. I'm sure there are a few guys making more than me on the stocker.

It doesn't mean you can't make more than 350 on the stocker, it means the stocker becomes a bottleneck at 350. You can make 1000 HP on the stock IC if your motor has enough *****. What this means is you won't see a difference from changing the IC until you around these power levels. I bet you could make a significant amount more power if you upgraded yours.

I hope so. I'm thinking about buying the AMS intercooler and a TME spec turbo to hit 400 whp without a standalone or piggyback. I might need some headwork to get there though.

It seems that power can be gained from a intercooler upgrade at any mod level. Even stock. Sure, it's not the first thing you should buy, but if you are even asking this question, you probably need one.

Not exactly true...
Larger intercooler has a disadvantage, and that is the increased pressure drop... if you are running stock turbo/stock boost, a bigger fmic will most likely hurt performance because the same amount of air is travelling a greater distance

If american engineered/manufactured FMICs' are so great (I dont want to mention any company names in particular), geez, I wonder why I dont see any japanese evo's spotting american built aftermarket parts, yet at the same time evo owners worldwide are putting japanese parts on theirs

EVOSKY,

When was the last time you saw an American vendor building EVO parts and trying to market them in Japan? Japanese flood us with there parts and make them readily available.

Actually, several of the larger intercoolers have a lower pressure drop than the stock intercooler. It all depends on which intercooler. The AMS intercooler's largest pressure drop was 1 psi at 24-25 psi. At a lower boost setting, that pressure drop will be even less. Unless someone were to buy a very cheap, poorly designed intercooler, there really isn't much of a downside.

Correct, the larger FMIC have LESS pressure drop than a smaller unit. More displacement to fill but less pressure drop.
