Evo VIII and MR parts

I was reading up on the MR and it seems they only changed a few parts to make the engine give out alot more power.. one part being the dump valve for the turbo.. i was wondering if we can interchange those parts with our standard Evo's and get power increases, or am I just wishfully dreaming?

dump valve won't increase power... it wil simply prevent the current setup from leaking boost. My guess is the MR has a slightly larger nossel area for increased high RPM boost (slightly more cfm from the turbo) and a new fuel and timing map to correct the problems with detination that are current on 03 and possible 04 models. They also added slightly more boost, but not as much as you may think

The "dump valve" or BOV, does not give horsepower. The "a lot more power" that you refer too is only 5 hp at the crank which was achieved by cranking the boost up to 20.3 lbs vs. 19.5 on the 03's.

The MR's got a new wastegate and boost solenoid though, as well as a new oil cooler. Those parts would be nice to get.

All the '05 have revised wastegate and 10.5 hotside. The SoCalEvo.net guys said the USDM MR had the same plastic dump valve that the '03's do.

Didn't know about the changed boost solenoid...and doesn't 5hp increase seem kind of low for an almost 1 psi increase in peak boost?

Not really, because the 05's still have the taper. The low-end torque is improved by 13 lb-ft, which is more in line with the 0.8psi increase.
