whats wrong with my car????
two days ago i went to start my evo (7K miles, turboback with cat delete, stock clutch), and it would crank but not catch....i woke up this morning and gave it another shot and sure enough it started....what could it have been? luckily it was in my driveway and not in the mall parking lot or somewhere, but i want to avoid this happening again, what could it be?
worst case... beginning of compression leakage...
maybe (to be not so morbid) it was just flooded? theres a procedure in the manual for starting the car if the engine's flooded.
anyone else have ideas?

Check your cam angle sensor (the plug above the BOV attached to the head). It could also be a crank angle sensor going out. Check your plugs. Basically check anything electronic attached to the valve cover.
Good luck!

Right from the owners manual:
If the engine has flooded during starting, first run the starter for 5 - 6 sec. while holding the accelerator pedal on the floor.Release the ign. key ( return to the "on" position) and the accelerater pedal. wait a moment , then without depressing the gas pedal, turn the ign. key to the "start" position for another 5-6 sec. Release the ign. keyif the engine starts.
Repeat as neccesary if the engine fails to start, or contact a Mitsu dealer.

If it cranked but didn't turnover, this could be related to the starter or fuel pump. If it only happened once, your car probably just had a brain fart. If it's a problem, it would be a consistant problem. Since it only happened once, it shouldn't be a problem.
Flooding means you have too much fuel and too little air to ignite the gas. Yes, there are cases where too much gas won't burn, and then you have to 'pump' it out, or wait til it 'evaporates' off.
