US SPEC EVO VII SIGHTED!!!!
I was on my way to the movies last night in West LA (westchester) and I saw a bright yellow Evo VII with the CA plate labeled "dist" for distributer. I didnt have much luck with the pics as it was dark, but I do have one that came out decent.
This model was most likely a US protoype model, as I could tell the intercooler size had been reduced and moved about 5 inches back from the front bumper. (As discussed by previous publications, the problem getting the EVO VII into the US is the 5MPH crash law, which states that major damage can not occur when the front or rear bumpers strike an object @ 5MPH or less. This was an issue with the Euro / Japan model EVO VII b/c the intercooler is so close to the front bumper facia.)
Most of the rest of the car looked very similar to the Euro / Japan model.
This is very exciting b/c most publications said it could be a year still before we see this model. In reality it looks as if they are into the US conversion pretty deep.
SIGN ME UP, might be here early next year

Blurry US Spec evo Pics AGAIN! Sorry!
The attach image feature is acting up for me so I'm just posting a link where you can view all the pics.
As I stated the first time, these are not great photos.

Sweet! From the looks of it we'd be getting the same wheels at least Smaller intercooler might explain the 250hp quote some reps have given, but I don't see why they would drastically change the car from the one on the road. It would probably cost Mitsubishi more money just to make a different engine anyhow.
Thanks for posting the pic smolvar.
Everyone in LA be on the lookout

From what I can tell from the pictures, it seems like the car is just parked on the side of the road? What, so is it some kinda of teaser? Maybe to stir things up a little before?

Not a teaser... I was chased away by the owner
I thought it odd that this "hot" car would be parked on the side of a residential street myself. That is why I didnt notice it at first. I drove by and thought someone had "riced out" one of the pansy US lancers :-)
I pulled a U-turn to investigate and I started taking a few pics. After 4 pictures and some drooling (60 seconds) the guy who lives in the house in the background came out and yelled at me. "What are you doing? Get out of here!" So he must not have it for publicity reasons. I left and came back in 1 hour and the car was gone! My guess is that its a loaner prototype or maybe its a US spec car that is due for crash testing (parish the thought)

Wow, a guy came out and yelled at you! There's definately something up with that car. The guy was asking for it parking it on the side of the street in LA though.

Actually the reason I keep my digital camera in my car is because about once a month I run into situations like this. I would agree with you the area is densely populated, however in June I saw the new BMW 760i and in July I saw the new MINI, just rollin down the street like any other car.
I know that most of the auto manufacturers have offices in Torrance,Ca and they also have extreme testing grounds in the Mojave desert. I have also seen many of the newest cars being filmed for commercials and such on the PCH highway along the water. There is alot of new car activity in the Southern California area.
So despite the instinctual idea that auto manufacturers would keep things secret, it seems to be quite the opposite if you are a very observant car geek like myself. Maybe they just think we wont notice :-)
