I am sure someone here knows more than what has been put in the magazines..... I found a GMC Typhoon with 35k miles in mint condition... if the EVO VIII isn't going to be here for 4 more months, I may want to get the typhoon for now.... anyone know?

Where was this info taken? Why not just trust the counter mitsubishi has set for us?

The rep told me Feburary till the time i could drive one but I believe whatever the counter has said and what mitusbishi has planned which is Jan of 03.

The LAUNCH is Jan. 3 meaning that is when it will be introduced at the auto show. It will be shipped from Japan at the end of Jan. and be in dealers late Feb. or so. Meaning the soonest you'll get one is probably the first of March. Keep in mind no official orders or anything are being processed until it is introduced...

 

Hey,GTR ,I know that everybody hopes for January,but do u remember story with WRX .I remember this like today ,when the counter was at 0 I called my dealer and he mention that delivery starts month or 2 later.I think that most likely Januray 3 is set for debut and spec ,but not delivery ,so I am totally with Mark....

 

im ganna listen to what mitsu themselves, and my dealer says. they both say about the same thing... beginning of Jan.

 

i called mitsu's main phone line. i told them my info, and they had my order on their computers, they told me id have it beginning of jan.

 

rt turbo..sorry, but your dealer is full of crap. I know for a fact the first cars won't be shipped until about the third week of Jan.

 

Sorry but that isn't true. Orders aren't being filled yet. What is your order #? The people on that 800 # line don't know a thing about the Evo. You will get a different answer from all of them. Talking to them is about like talking to your dealer.

 

thats odd. they told me my mothers maiden name, where i lived, and the order (black evo w/ recarro). only info i gave was social security. maybe she has ESP?

The 2000 Eclipse release date was Sept 8 1999. Thats when all the commercials and stuff began, however I actually test drove one in early August when my dealer had 4 on the lot.
Most often dealers have cars before the official advertising is detailed for.
For instance here the local dealer only got official info on the Outlander 2 weeks before the first ones on the lot. Mistubishi is not like Nissan. They probably dont have a pre-order system in place and dont let dealers know crap until the last minute.

 

well.... i have no idea who is right or wrong. I do recall the 2000 S2000's coming out Sept 19th (roughly) 1999. I got mine the 21st....none were on the lots though.... i think it was just about a week before, that they annouced pricing, etc.....

I guess time will tell.... for now I will pass on the typhoon....unless someone can buy it for me.

How does your deal know what packages are comming with the Evo? (ie your recaro package). I was under the impression that we still had no clue what any of the different pakages were. Maybe your dealer knows something that no one else's knows? Care asking him what other packages will be available? Just to see what he says? Thanks
