MR tranny/transfer case reliability

Ok, so the new MR is out...and yes...it's awesome.

i am curious though. With all of the issues with the 03 EVO regarding the transfer cases...does anyone have any info on the strength and reliability of the MR tranny/transfer case?

i personally do not wish any of the MR owners bad luck at all...but i sure am hoping that they are not bulletproof pieces in the tranny.

cause i sure as hell know that if a bunch of MR's start going 11's without a sound from the transfercase or any other diff for that matter, there will be a lot of pissed 03 GSR owners.

I will be one cause i am on my second transfer case and yeah...it's starting to make some noise.

just curious if anyone has any info.

My suggestion is to search the UK boards, as they've had it for some time now.

How can you expect an answer about a system that no one has more than break-in miles on in the U.S.? People aren't answering because they're rude it's because no one knows, yet. Time will tell what the reliability is.

From what I read, (correct me if I'm wrong), the UK/JDM Evo 8 GSR came with the same 6 speed tranny that our MR comes with. If that is the case, I know of alot of people changing out their 6-Speed for RS or Evo7 trannys. Aperently the 6 speed can not handle as much power. I belive this is why we got the 5 speed in our 2003 and 2004 Evos.

Yeah, the 6-speed tranny did even worse then the 5-speed in track tests on a stock Evo VIII.
