Jesus lay off the kid, I am sure he feels bad enough as it is.

As long as he is ok.....i don't feel bad at all.

He'll hopefully use this experience to bring him back down to reality.

Cause from the way he was looking in those pictures...cocky and arrogant would barely cover the expression on his face.

Hope hes ok. Maybe he needs to wait a few years before he drives another performance car. His insurance is probably raping him vigorously with no lube.

I doubt it...people who have things handed to them generally don't appreciate them, even when they're gone.

I guess if I have to come up with something positive to say, at least he didn't get dead.

The reason I feel this way is that I've seen this plenty of times before. My sister (much younger) had a friend in high school who's parents bought him a new 318i (back in the early 90's) and after 3 whole days with the car, they put him in a box.

He didn't have to work for it, so he was out thrashing the hell out of it when the telephone pole came calling....The kid and 3 of his friends were killed in the accident, all because he had no appreciation for something he didn't have to work for.

so, when the MR's back "went out" from under him when he was braking, should he have let off the brake and hit the throttle and let the AWD take over? i didnt read any advice from the experts on what he should have done. i would like to know for future reference too.

yes, that is exactly what he should have done. I've noticed with my MR that on the brakes it will oversteer (even in the dry), the way to get out of the slide is to point the front wheels where you want it to go and boot it. Matt (above) has been there in my car once, and I've been there several times (on purpose). The car is very neutral, and as such will reward a skilled driver and punish the not so skilled.

YMMV,
Greg

righton, you have fun playing in the snow this winter. I may have to go "visit some" so I can play safely.

My back end slid out once in the rain...of course I was in a closed area from the public and I was trying to get it to do it. The car pretty much corrects itself if you don't freak out.

amen to Rally291. the people that have things handed to them generally dont appreciate as much as the ones that have to work for them. the MR is, in my opinion, way too fast for the inexperieced drivers. i feel bad for the his car but i dont feel bad for him because he shouldve practice and get to know the car better. the only way to get the car to act with u is to get to know it. with only 90 miles on his car, i highly doubt if he knew what the car can and can not do. at least the car is not totalled, just cosmetic damaged.
