What Greg says about oversteer and punishment is spot on.

We've been spoon-fed cars that had inherent understeer for YEARS from every source. Now that there are a few cars that will actually bring the back end around, people are balling them up because they panic when the car gets unhooked. That's the absolute worst thing you can do.

Hitting the brakes will only transfer more weight to the front and the back end will come around even faster. Getting on the throttle is your best bet in that scenario, and you may have to put some serious steering input in as well.

Like the man said, these cars will reward those who know how to drive them well and will absolutely punish those who don't.

By the way, the STi is exactly the same.

Not to mention that the guy was boasting about his driving skills and that he knew how to drive circles around everyone. His boasting and posting the poser-boy 'gangsta' pictures in front of a car that mommy bought him should tell you something about the type of person he is. The pictures certainly made *me* laugh.

Hire a teenager while they still know everything.

Not to get on your case, but WHERE did you read about him "boasting about his driving skills and he knew how to drive circles around everyone."

I did not read it anywhere but I could be wrong. If it was never posted, then please don't spread rumors about him - it's not nice and I don't think you would want someone else to misquote you and cause slander. Plus, he could have posted that after all sh**ty responses we gave to him. I mean, come on, one of the first bad comments was from someone who was hating on him for owning a 40K car at so early an age...without knowing the full story...

Read this entire thread, including the ones referenced and you'll have your answer.

Just for reference, I don't subscribe to 'political correctness.' If someone does something stupid, I'll call them on it, every time.

I did buddy, I even did a search on his name jxs1984. It's not about being politically correct. It's about being ACCURATE. If he bragged that he could drive circles around others and that he was a bad *** driver, then I can see the justification and the lesson learned and you have every right to call him on it.

That's the problem - I never saw him post anything about how skilled he was as a driver. People PROJECTED that onto him when they saw his pictures. And now, he took them off because he does not want this INCORRECT image perpetuated.

If you can find me the thread or quote where he bragged about his driving skills then I will apologize for getting on your case...ultimately, as ADULTS we should show some compassion for him. I think that's the mature way for us to handle things.

All: Here is one of his first threads...

Where do you read about cockiness and arrogance? I don't know about everyone but I think he sounds like a pretty good kid. He even planned to treat the car with respect knowing that it can be pretty powerful and dangerous...

The question I ask again...WHY ARE WE ALL HATIN ON HIM????

One of jxs1984 FIRST posts...
"Hey, my father passed away about 2 weeks ago, sad but he's in a better place now. I remember he would always talk to me about rally cars, he loves to see rally cars speeding over 100mph on dirt/gravel, I would just sit down during dinner, eating my food and listen to him blab about rally cars all nite .

So then I spoke to my mom about it, convinced her that the evo would be the car to remember my dad by, also a guide for me anywhere I go. So she agreed to use some my dad's life insurance money toward the evo. Such a nice mom.

I am 19 years old, turning 20 in december. I am hard of hearing, 50% deaf, i wear a hearing aid in my left ear, right ear has no hearing, which is kaput. my main interests are cars and computers. I go to Rochester Institute of Technology as my college. I have owned only 2 high mileage cars in the past. First car is a really slow automatic 94 eclipse... but it was my car to practice my daily driving with. Second, got rid of the eclipse and the one I have right now is a 3rd gen honda prelude, 5 speed ofcourse... did a jdm b20a swap myself, no vtec... and it kills honda civic w/ b16 and vtec. not that fast compared to you evo owners ofcourse .

anyway... from what i read, the evo is the car to be really extra careful with. my mom knows about this too. she told me not to challenge it... for an example, when my dad got his 4x4 jeep wrangler and added some big *** tires, he would take it up a very steep hill to see what it is capable of, scared the **** out of me . so since i already read throughout the forum, i know this car is really quick, so i am going to be extra careful. but i will still have a little fun with it on the highway at high speed (where i live is a small village, so barely any cops around).

now... one last question:
since the new 2005 evo mr is coming out in september... will the prices of the evo8 be lower? i really want to help my mom out, not to spend alot on the evo8, but a reasonable price."
