HELP - New CD player install problem

I bought a new CD player tonight and started the install process, but hit a snag...

I pulled out the stock deck and proceeded to take off the 2 side mounting brackets, but I can't get all 4 screws out! I've started to round off 2 of them, and don't think they are coming off!

Therefore, it looks like I need 2 fresh side mounting brackets! Any ideas or help?

Very common. Next time take a rubber mallet and hit the top of the screw driver when before you turn it helps a great deal. As far as now, get a dremel and cut a slot on the screw like a flat head screw, then try the rubber mallet technique. Should work.

Hmm, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I'm pretty low on tools though...

Do you have an impact driver? it looks like you used a screwdriver that was too small- next time use the right size- #2 phillips i think- also make sure the handle is long enough- more length= more torque.
while i am at it- instead of cutting/splicing your wires, get a wiring harness from a stereo shop or online- it will make the install much easier- they run between 15-20 dollars.

I got the harness and it's all wired up. This is probably my 6th or somthing headunit I've installed, so it's nothing new really. I've tested everything and it all works, so that's good. I just need to get it mounted so I can drive with it!

I'm in the midwest...

Ok I did the same thing and as long as you have one out on each side you should be ok. Just take and kind of pull on the bracket untill you can "unclip" it and turn it. If you can get it to where you can turn the bracket with the one stuck screw still in there then it will take alot of pressure off of that screw and you should be able to get a pair of pliers on there and turn it the rest of the way out. Worked for me so give it a shot.....then just get a couple of new screws and you are set!

Dude, I got it! I just needed to get the hammer out as it seems!

Lifted up the back end of the clamps, and hit the front with the hammer in order to rotate the clamp around and it loosened itself up and it's off.

Thanks man, you rock. Wish there was a way I could pay ya back.

Haha, I have no idea what they use to put those screws in, and when it came out I didn't se any Loctite on the threads. I just used a large screwdriver with a fat handle after struggling with a smaller one and they came out relatively easy.

Just glad you got it man.....unless you wanna take off some of your parts and ship them to me......J/K. Hey that is what the board is here for to help each other out. If you run across a CF wing or someone that wants to trade let me know and that will be good enough for me. I know someone will total or want to switch to a different wing one day so I am just getting the word out!
