Unhappy Problem with shifting

Ok went to the track last night, ran an 11.8 which was awesome. Noticed on about my 4th run that third felt notchy, actually locked out first time I tried to put it in gear. Last two runs went ok but I had to really slow my shift down to get it in third which was killing my times. Before you assume, no the car has never ever been powershifted, all shifts are lift throttle, never forced into gear or grinded. Basically 3rd goes in gear fine but slow and very notchy, no grinding, just not that buttery, lightning fast shift I am used to. Any thoughts on what is going on. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Shane

you still have your restictor in your tranny? It maybe that you need to change your fluid. I haven't heard any syncros problems in EVo's yet.

Modern Syncros are fairely well built.

Went driving tonight seems to a little better, seems it only happens when Rpm's are high, fast shifts at low or mid range, say 3500-5500 are fine only happens around redline. Weird this just started, I am going to try a fluid change. What would a failing synchro feel like?

All my gears lately have been notchy and like rough every time i shift. I dont know why. I dont abuse my car and beat on it, which i do get a lot of criticism for, but i love my car. The only thing that's holding me back is my tranny. The main problem is that my 5th gear grinds when i shift from 3500rpms or over from a lower gear, and idk what the problem is there. I think im going to bring it in and let them check it out. is it a synchro, or am i just screwed. If any one knows...lemme know.

Just another concerned Evo Owner.

I have 22,300 miles this just started for me, as far as your 5th gear goes, there is a TSB I believe on the 5th gear sychro, it is a known problem.

I had the ACT in my car and was having the same notchy shifting above 6500 rpm. I pulled out the ACT and put in an Exedy Twin and the shifting problems went away, now just finding a twin disk to hold the power is the problem.

It's not your syncros.

I have had the ACT in for awhile and haven't had the problem until a few nights ago.
