Car & Driver specs of new EVO...
LOL.....why are you complaining about AYC/ACD? The article says in the future we will see AYC/ACD as an option. Everyone has countlessly *****ed (counting me) about only having 250HP; well now we see it is more like 275HP (just a bit below the VII). Now that that is cleared up, we are *****ing (me too again) about AYC/ACD. I wish that our Evo was full hit like the Euro/Japan spec, but it isn't going to happen. WTF happened to the Recaros.....son of a *****
Either wait for the option to come out and then buy an Evo or import one from EI. The f*cking Evo is going to be like 40K anyways with mark up. You think that 27K-29K price will hold? Oh please. Every dealer who said they were going to give it to you at MSRP....lol.....it will be great when you go to pick up your car and get the final quote on the price.
Look at it this way. You have a brand new Evo; would you sell it for 29K? F*ck no.....

Im going to have to agree with Mega. Who cares about buttons for snow rain and gravel, wow. ACD/ACY would be nice, but its not needed. I dont plan on rallying. I plan on driving, maybe doing some highway racing(nothing neck breaking) Take her to the drag. I could careless if she slides in the mud. My brother rallies his evo, you think he cares if hes a world rally racer or not? Jesus.
Also, i think acy/acd is not what makes the evo. Its the car in general.

I, myself, will be EXTREMELY disappointed if the Evo does not have ACD. I could care less about the electronics in the differentials (it's cool, don't get me wrong). It's the fact that the ACD can transfer torque three times as fast as a typical viscous differential. Don't need AYC. ACD is the key.

Regarding the article: According to the article "one Japanese model of the Evo will get a six-speed manual gearbox this time around." Well all of the specs we've seen so far show that the 6 speed is available on both the GSR and RS model. The article also says that there will be 2 transmissions offered in the US, NEITHER of which are offered on the JDM model. It just doesn't make sense to do that.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: monthly magazines have at least a 2 month lag time with their news. A lot can change in that time. I'll be waiting for the press release in January...
I may look to the EVO again in the future, once Mitsu overcomes their tepidness and offers us options at the time of purchase like ACD that we cant just add ourselves. But not in this first "test" run.. In the meantime I wouldnt get too emotionally involved in the car that it clouds our ability to look at things critically, and make it too easy to make excuses. Every glowing overseas review of the Evo Ive read talked about AYC/ACD making a substantial difference. I wont settle, but any of you guys can.. i know mitsus counting on it.
Just like "Evolution Se7en" said, first we *****ed about the horsepower (me included), now that it is 270+ (which is good with me), we (not me though) find something else to ***** about.
Mitsu will sell the hell out of them with or without nearly useless (to the average buyer) gadgets designed for full on racing.
My guess is that many of the people posting cannot even afford a $30k evo. aeromotive1 said - "I had two deposits".....why two? Were you going to buy two EVO's? I am totally impressed!
People like to hear themselves talk........ impressing only themselves.
Anyone here actually have a SCCA license? NASA license? (not membership....those just cost a few $).

What do you drive now....... must be something damn good since you won't "settle".

.. a 30k Evo, EXactly. Maybe you have 30K to toss around lightly on an econobox based sports car but I dont. The US spec evo wont be a crappy car but it hasnt quite yet won over my hard earned dollars. And I suspect a few discerning enthusiasts will think likewise.
I put 2 deposits down cuz I wanted to make sure I got the dang car. But that was when I felt it was still a highly coveted special car.
I'd rather talk big then think small..

I also have 2 deposits. I also have experience with a highly sought after limited production car. I had deposits on my 2000 Integra Type-r. Its the only way that I can better my chances of not getting screwed when the time comes to sign the deal. IM happy with the specs, I feel that no car at 30k can come close to the EVO, and if you say a 350z(beautiful car though), then you're not thinking about the hp posibilities of the EVO .
Whats funny to me is how some guys want ACD/AYD at no matter what cost. Dont you guys remember what happened in the '90s when all Japanese car makers were dishing out cars with everything they could throw in them? THEY COULD NOT SELL THEM !!!!!!!!!!! Or is it that maybe you want Jap companies to fail again and produce 40k cars that the majority of us can aprecciate but cant afford. nuff said.

What the **** do you drive!.. Have YOU ever driven an evolution.....I admit, alot of these people may not be planning to buy an evolution but they're entitled to their opinions. As for me , you can be damn straight that Ive driven all the evolutions from 4-7. I dont care what you think, I can send everyone the pictures when i just got my seven. Maybe you arent planning to race or rally your car,, but most of us like evolutions because they bring us closer to feeling like WR pros. I admit that not everyone likes AYc or ACD, and they're entilted to thier opinion. Some say that ayc is like cheating around corners. But what gives you the right to go off saying that the people who like these systems, dont know what they're talking about, that "they just like to hear themselves". Man dont be so synical. When ACD was added to the 7 , it was amazing, and it is really useful. Ive never used snow, but I alternate between Tarmac and Gravel all the time, depending on if its wet or dry out, or if im racing on dirt tracks or cane fields. YOU do SIGNIFICANTLY feel the difference in cornering abilities. Ive never driven the Sti but id like to find out about it..... I can always get the Jspec evolution at home. Im just pissed that while im studying in north america I wont be able to drive it. Also, I really believe that this will be the last version of the evolution!!!!! So do YOU really want to pay all that $$ for smthn youve been waiting for..... only to realize that the last time youre able to drive an Lancer evolution its the watered down thing.......Whatever guy,,,,,,,,,,!!!!! You obviously dont know about evolutions

Very true. But the market then is much different than the market now. The import performance craze didn't really kick in until around 1996. Now it's full blown and they should really take advantage of it by giving us what we want.

I'm with hotstepper on this one, I would not have bought my S2000 if it was not on par with the JDM car. My car was fully assembled in Japan and come only in one package. Love it. I've recently been looking for a change in what to drive. I will be checking out the G35 coupe, 350Z, and now the EVO...might even wait for the STi.
I am not the most knowledgeable auto tech genius around. That is why I decided to subscribe to this board to learn more about the EVO. I will DEFINITELY not buy the EVO immediately if it will came without ACD/AYC...ACD alone I can live with.

Mr. AWD
First off I agree with Mr AWD in that the AYC and ACD are not nessessary. I would not mind at all if the AYC doesn't come (less weight) but will be dissapointed without the ACD (even the subbie has an adjustment for the rear bias on thier center diff).
I am however PISSED that we dont get the six speed. the faster gear ratios + a tall sixth for cruising would have been really nice(even the subbie has a six).
BTW that picture only looks that good cause
designers never touched it. Its a Mag-x photochop.
Am I still gonna get an Evo? Only if its close to 28k.
