Car & Driver specs of new EVO...

I got this from the friend, and kind of goes along with the Jap specs from the other site:

U.S.-spec "Lancer Evolution" (no VII/VIII descriptor)
275 hp @ 6500 (down 5 from Jap-spec)
torque also "down slightly"
5-speed manual or auto (no 6-speed)
No Active Yaw Control
No Active Center Diff
Same Brembo brakes as Jap-spec
Same 235/45ZR-17's
14.5 gal fuel tank
Reinforcement beam in front bumper that will slightly change nose
$27,000 to $29,000

There is hope: the AYC/ACD will be offered later as options.

Can you scan the article? I didn't get mine in the mail yet.

EDIT: Offered later as options ?! Once again enthusiasts get screwed by buying from the first batch.

Hmm, and now the big question: to wait or not to wait

I don't believe would screw the true evo enthusiasts If they screw me i'm not going back to Mitsubishi ever! I'm going for Sti, ZO6 or skyling GTR.

The evo 8 Better comes with ACD! The stupid car is not even going to compete in the WRC. Maybe I'll give up my spot for a STI "especially with active diffs" but that's not even confirmed!

Forgot to mention Auto?? WTF. Those will probably be sold well under MSRP, LOL! ! Who here would buy an Auto Evo?

Well, that info on the new STi that Paul did on the Apex Japan site looks pretty good and if Subaru brings something close to that, it would be hard to stay with any longer

Don't get too worried yet my man. Monthly car magazines have about 2 months lag time with their news. A lot can happen in 2 months, though numerous sources have already said that there won't be ACD/AYC offered in the initial batch.

BTW, for those who haven't seen it yet, here's an excerpt from Mitsubishi's latest press release for November sales:
The 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor, which will first appear at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and go on sale in February 2003, will join Outlander in Mitsubishi's growing family of distinctive S.U.V.'s. The company is also preparing to publicly show the 2004 Lancer Evolution for the first time. The high-performance supercar will debut at the 2003 Los Angeles International Auto Show and go on sale in February 2003.
So Mitsu's official Evo website says it will be a 2003 model and their latest press release says it's gonna be a 2004 model. Seems to me even Mitsu doesn't know what's going on. You would assume the car magazines know even less than Mitsu.

High-performance supercar?!?! We'll have to see about that...

I'm member number 48 and wanted an evo since then. I've waited so long and now they are stripping it back to evo3? Warrenty issues "3yrs" what a joke. If that was the case made junk cars for many years. And now with the WRC crap I don't know why i even bother. Mitsubishi if your monitoring this site, it's not about the HP. 250 would do me fine as long as it's full blown! NOT a money issue, wanted the car for the technology and racing heritage with it'll soon loose.

All i have to say is with a month pull back it better be good! Hey why make it 2L?????
2.4? or maybe a V6. No rally car anymore, just a failed rally car design "the lancer cedia". If they decide to change to a colt platfore they've admitted our design was a failure as a rally car.

This info almost makes me want to write a letter. Keep in mind, I would never write a letter, ever. Hasn't C&D posted incorrect specs in the past? Hopefully these are as incorrect as those.

Keep in mind, even if this info is true, I bet it wont be that hard to replace parts with the JDM spec Evo.

Yeah, I believe it was C&D who also posted that pic in their "New Cars" issue of the Evo and it happened to not be the next Evo at all. (They posted that black one with the funny headlights)

You never know, but if that is the case about the AYC/ACD I would probably be most willing to wait. However, if I had to wait as long as it would take to wait for an Sti then I would likely pick one of those up instead.

Damn now I know I'm gonna wait.... Come to think of it... There's been a trend in which new models have better and more options the next model year. ie IS 300 first year no manual.. G35 coupe a few months later with a manual so on and so forth.. Not the best examples but it's been a trend. I better hurry up and get my $1000 deposit before the dealership gets too comfortable holding onto it. Once the car actually comes out it'll be nearly impossible for me to get my "refundable deposit"

I couldn't agree more with what was said here if I tried. It'd be one thing if it was a beautiful car, but it's not. It's a beautiful performer, with some incredible technology that you won't find on a Porsche, Ferrari, or Mercedes. But what's the point in having it if it doesn't have the good stuff? Sure, it'll still perform well, but so does the WRX. And I've never had a chance to use this phrase about a WRX, but "at least it's better looking!"

I don't get all the complaining about the AYD/ ACD??? Are you guys planing to use the car for racing?

I would have to guess the average joe is not going to **** with those things more than for fun for a few minutes. I just don't see too many of you slidding your $30k Evo up some slippery twisty road while you are pissing with with your differential splits.

We had a toyota SUV with locking hubs front back and center. I NEVER (NEVER) touch even one of those controls. It did just fine without those unless you bury it up to the axles in mud (which 90%+ of the people don't do).

Just seems like a lot of big talk from people as if they were actually going to use the ****. People always have to have something to ***** about!
