Body work estimates/ ideas.

Well ive been thinking of getting a wrecked EVO and a couple of them that I have run across have rear quarter panel damage. My initial reaction is "unrepairable". Just wonder what your thoughts are on the status of quarter panel repair. These Evo's which I have found currently have Clear titles one requireing quarter panel replacement the other requiring front cosmetic work ie. bumper fenders. Another thing that comes to mind is what relation does a regular Lancer have for items such as Radiator supports? Basically does the evo have just different outer shell's than Lancers in every aspect, front, rear doors? Im assuming the trunk lid is gonna be the only similar part.

thanks guys

rear damage is not that bad from what Ive heard. It is easy to fix. but just alot of welding. Not something most ppl could do at home. It all depends on the price. If you can get it for a good price and the repair isnt too expensive then it could be a good deal. Get with a local shop and get them to work with you. The biggest thing is that you have to realize even with a clear title, with carfax these days every potential buyer/dealer will know about the rebuild. So if your planning on just driving it forever then your ok. If your planning on selling it, sooner or later, then you have to accept the fact that you wont get market value for it. But consider the money you will save in payments.....

Yeah I figured it would involve a lot of welding unlike a front fender which is bolt on.

btw I believe that only the rear doors are different from the base lancers. The rear has a different skin on it.

Also if you plan on doing it always know that there will be stuff you dont see or havent planned for. ie, my tierod is bent and didnt figure on that

Yeah I basically rule out anything with frame damage, and suspension damage is kinda my specialty due to experiences with a ball joint coming out of place in my current car. so that isnt gonna be a problem. My main concern is really body damage which isnt bolt on.

Only bolt on stuff which would easily be replacable, a rear quarter panel is out of my league.

eastwood company sells a nice stud welder that welds a 2mm pin on the body and you use a slide hamer and pull the dent out , Buy a wrecked car can be good if you know what you are doing .
