Another "I just drove the MR" thread.
As stated in the title I just got done driving the Evo MR around...
the good:
-ACD is awesome unfortuneatly didn't have the weather or road conditions to really put it to the test
-6 speed is great not only does it have the extra gear but it shifts much smoother than my Evo and with a shorter throw (this was the most impressive thing about it
-Vortex generator gives the Evo an extra 7lb of downforce at 110 mph (I only hit 90 on the test drive due to traffic)
-5lb of torque and 13hp gain
-Nicer wheels
the bad:
-$5000 markup on every MR in this entire area
-$40,000 dollar total price tag and they aren't willing to budge much at all
-Power gain almost not noticeable
-I wasn't able to distinguish a handleing difference between the Evo and the MR on normal roads (ACD only used in bad weather or gravel road)

How was the ride? How was the clutch? Did the power feel the same as yours 1-3? What did the boost gauge read at under full boost? Is it worth the extra $5000 MSRP to MSRP over the GSR?

If you already have an Evo its not worth trading it in and taking the hit for... If you buying a new Evo then I would say yea its probably worth the extra if you can get them to give it to you for close to MSRP. The power felt about the same it was hardly noticeable at all boost gauge read 1.4atm under full boost in 5th gear
The dealer I was at seemed to think the MR was worth 2x as much as my 03 GSR which I strongly disagreed
The ride was about the same I didn't notice much difference at all
The clutch seemed much smoother actually the whole transmission felt way better this was what I was most impressed with about the car there seemed to be a shorter throw and a much smoother transision between gears. This was the best upgrade they did on the MR in my opinion.

I'm ganna replace the clutch in mine soon anyway and will probably add a short shift and SS clutch line when I do then I should be just as smooth as the MR with an Even shorter throw and better clutch.

I drove a friends "MR" and the first word that came to mind was "supple"
The new "MR" is just more supple.
Other than that, it is an Evo 8!!
Would I buy an "MR"?/ Sure.
I just wish there was a lot MORE different..
I guess when I first drove it I expected a vast difference and there isn't!
But still a cool car.
