Just a little FYI....
$40,000 for a Mitsubishi, even if it IS an Evo? Tack an extra $4k on there (less if you find a negotiable dealer, or a used copy), and you've got a BMW M3, something that is much prettier, has three years FREE maintenance (on EVERYTHING about that car!), and will woop an Evo in a straight line or corners.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Evo fan, and I want one like mad, but that's because it's a $30,000 supercar, not a $40,000 compact sedan.

if the dealer treats me honestly and fairly w/o charging horrendous markup, that dealer will have my business for the rest of my life and then some.
on the other hand, stuff like this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and makes me want to never go to that dealer and tell everyone to stay away from them.
why can't we have a mitsu dealer like the subaru of irvine who will charge only $1500 above invoice for the sti??? i've never been there, but if i ever decide to buy one, they have my business.

EI Imports - Warranty 1yr/12,000 miles
US Spec Evo - Warranty 3yr/36000 miles (?? - 99.9% sure)
So even though you may have a Euro Spec Evo, your warranty is pretty narrow compared to the US Spec.

I have to agree with pretty much all of the previous statements (with the exception of the originator). I can fairly comfortably afford to buy this car with a 10k markup. I want this car and am not currently considering any other car which I would be interested in purchasing (possibly excepting the Sti). Am I going to buy this car for 40k? Well, let me thi...NO! Who could I show my face to after such an act? People would look down on me for being an imbecile; a non-intelligent amoeba for all intents and purposes, and rightly so! This is NOT a limited edition car. It is a limited initial launch, so I simply hope everyone will be patient (rich people included). They WILL be available at MSRP, without a doubt. I am going to even hazard a guess that they will be available at that rate (or at least siginificantly reduced from the absurd rate being discussed) long before most of the initial shipment is sold out. I would have to assume that car salesmen have now joined the ranks of lawyers, preying on desperation, although it is possible this has always been the case. Well then, welcome to the forums, sharky.
Hey, if i live in california and couldn't buy an evo for MSRP or extrememly close to that, don't buy one. The WRX STI is available for orders as we speak. Not limited. Go get one of those at MSRP and screw those dealerships around were you live.
But my advise to you is to wait and see what happens. You can use the STi thing as your last resort.

anyway most subaru dealer are charing sticker price or just 1k or 2k over, but 10k plus MSRP for an EVO? that is the biggest joke of the year. When i purchase the E46 M3, the dealer charge from 1k to 7k and thats for a 55k plus vehicle. but i just think your dealer is making a big mistake if you price is firm with 10K over sticker.
just my .02
I used to live next to the dealership. No ****, they were about 15mins from my house, in the Roseville AutoMall. I went there on 3 different occasions asking for info on the evo8, always getting bull****. About every dealer at this Automall is greedy, I just drop by for test drives.
this is what i found at imprezawrxsti.com
we need mitsu dealers like this!!!

Heh! Great posts, guys.... This is what I meant when I said to Jay Conzoner: " I hope you find this forum 'Educational'"
Maybe he will show these posts to the owner of his two dealerships: Roseville and Sacto Mitsu.
Powa to the Peeps!

Irvine Subaru does business the right way! People will be happy to buy from them and give them more business from word of mouth.
Dealers who try to mark up cars . . . well, they simply confirm why people think that most dealers are slime.
On top of all the profit they are making just by placing a simple order, they still want to screw the consumer further. What an ***.

Jay, Jay, Jay (shaking my head)...if you want the honest response:
You are very short sighted. MMC has made it a primary objective to focus on increasing customer loyalty. That doesn't come from raping because you can. If you have customers stupid enough to pay 10 grand over msrp...God help them. You certainly won't, and in the long run you will lose money. Anyone dumb enough to impulse buy at 10k over shouldn't really be financially successful enough to afford it. But then this is the USA where Brittney Spears is richer than all of us (probably) and garners more respect from the average American than Jimmy Carter does.
Well, it's the stupidity of the us market that keeps us from getting what the JDM gets and I'll not be surprised if you can sell a few at your prices. But that leads to customer dissatisfaction as you and I and soon-to-be-filled in, raped customer will know. You have come to us either to test the waters (in which case you'll find we'll not be too fond of sending any friend or family member or coworker or acquaintance to your dealership...or you truly have decided to do this, in which case you have publicly announced that you are more interested in the short-term buck than in providing a good product and good product support. That bodes poorly for your long-term sales.
Did you happen to take a gander at the number of MSRP dealers who are listed on this site??
Perhaps your "irate customer" in here will simply write a letter to MMC letting them know you are advertising your Chrysler values in a forum of mitsubishi-loyal, educated consumers.
My advice...renig your intent and sell at MSRP or at least make a public determination to sell lower than any regional competitor (in the unlikely event that no evos go for msrp in your area) That is the only way in hell you'll ever redeem yourself here. Personally, I'd never pay over msrp on principle...and I'm not so shortsighted as to think that you won't be desperately trying to sell out of the things when the enthusiasm fades and the supply has dramatically increased. After all, when next year's model comes out with ACD/AYC (read up if you are scratching your head about what those are) and your most fanatical enthusiasts with lots of money decide to buy again, just to have the latest-greatest, I'm betting they'll pass you over having figured out that you raped 'em. Lame business practice Jay...really lame...but I'm sure you'll pay for it in the not-so-distant future.
