Just something else to consider....the STi has been confirmed to be released with Varible Control Diff. Now with that being said MSRP for the STi will be around 32k-35k. Anyone who is locking themselves in a contract with for this car without even really knowing much about it (apart from the rumor mill and few other details known in the public). has to compete...it's been said before. Seriously consider this before paying over MSRP for this car!!!!!! I love it too, but I'm waiting until both come out b4 I make the final decision on this car. To each his own... just my 2 cents on the topic.

sound just like the S2000 fiasco.

even a M3 or M5 is not worth 10K markup

not even the Z8.

but people with more money than brains will pay, and sell it at a huge loss when they find another toy they like better.

but thanks for posting this I will not be visiting the roseville dealer

Jays Reply LOL

well I was hoping to here a few thoughts before I opened my Big mouth again lol. Yes you might be quick to judge my abillities as a internet manager but I had no idea I was the topic lol. I have been with Mitsubishi for 2 years, same dealership and i bet if you ask sales man how long they have worked at there dealership youll find Im ancient as far as staying at one place for that long. Its because I love the Mitsubishi product line and the dealership i work for is honest and prides it self in customer satisfaction. Actually Im doing this reserch for you the consumer, Im just a Internet manger, I dont make the prices The dealerships feel the market and price there cars to what the market demands. I have a list of 30 customers for the Evolution and do you think they can afford 10 grand over sticker, maybe 1 or 2. Id rather sell 10 cars and make lees profit than 1 and sit around doing nothing. Yes at MSRP manufactures have forceda bit of a mark up because they have lowered there suggested prices to be competitive. At MSRP most import cars have very little profit and have the Dealers lot cost which is reffered to as a pack it might a salesdman gets a mini which is around 75.00 to 100.00 and the average salesperson sells 10 cars a month which doesnt leave much to feed his family. Anyway Im sure you most of you could care less about that. For the guy that said he doesnt want to pay mark up, At this point I reccomend patience and for anyone who doesnt want to pay the high mark up because yes the Hype will die down and dealers will be more realistic. Hey I love this site and respect the people here, Im not here posting to be an ***, Im here to get feed back and show my boss what you all think. So where a lot of you look at the surface, try to look with in and you might find that theres a guy in the car biz that actually thinks like you! Im not Triple diamond Certified for Nothing LOL
Keep the posts comin, good or bad You are the Voices!

Jays REPLY 2

Hey to you all,
Im here because I am also an enthusiest, I do not come here to represent any dealership, Im simply doing reserch to show my boss what Evolution enthusiests have to say so cut me some slack here ok, My intentions are to make your voices heard and in the mixed I get well you must be a crappy internet manager and im never going to your dealership. Well that would be a shame Because My customers would tell you How much easier i made buying a car than they thought it would be and of 620 Mitsu dealerships , mine is in the top 50 for Customer Satisfaction. The verbal attacks on me are abit self indulged and very shallow. I asked for your thoughts on a issue of a high mark up for a vehicle we all want to drive. I want one myself but since numbers are limited i cant even buy one where i work. So you dont have to like me but lets have a little fun people and let loose and the meaness.
How about some Peace

Cool EVO's only one year?

Well since the EVO will be marked up 10k dealers might have a hard time getting rid of them for the first year. But is the EVO only coming out one year? But I remember when I really wanted to get a S2000 and the dealer I went to said they were only coming out for 2 years so the mark up was almost at every dealership. But if you noticed the S2000 is scheduled for 2003 and maybe even 2004. Just recently I spoke with the dealer manager who said the S2000 is depreciating because Honda keeps releasing them, after he bought one himself.

So if the EVO is coming out for more than a year the first batch(which more than likely will still be there on the lot ) of EVO's might be sold less to make room for the 2004 EVO's.

BTW how much was the mark up on PT's the first year?

Some dealers were getting at least 12k over sticker on the PTs the first year. Don't know who would spend that kind of cash on it when basically it is a Neon.

The guy who sold me my Lancer was making quite a good living for himself, and I'd guarantee the guy doesn't sell more than 8-10 cars a month.

Not if he was only selling Lancers. The most I have ever made on a Lancer was $131. That was selling it at MSRP.

Any salesman you know only sell lancers?

He works the Lancers, the Eclipses (Eclipsii?), the Monteros and everything else, plus the used.

I usually make just as little on a $38k Montero as I do on a $15k Lancer. In fact there are times when I have made more on the Lancer. Quite a few in fact. It doesn't really make any difference. There's not much money in new cars. The only way to stay alive in the car business is on used cars.

WTF are you talking about 6500 of them, how is that not limited?
