Replaced STi with MR

I really liked the STi, Subaru, and my dealer, and I'm not at all interested in dissing them. As an STi owner, I always respected and appreciated Evos.
At first I figured I'd replace the STI with another. Then I started thinking about other options. In the end, the avalanche of praise the automotive press has had for the Evo and the recommendation of an '03 Evo-owning friend convinced me to give the Evo a shot. A local dealer had a gray MR, and I was able to get it for $500 over invoice.
I miss the STi's low-end grunt and flatter power band, and I miss climate control and cruise control (only a little). The Evo's crisper handling and steering, tighter feel, seats, gauges, and JATO-like boost (which I'm only getting a hint of during break-in) make up for it, though. Only time will tell how it really stacks up to the STi, though.

Well, I traded my STI for an '03 EVO at the beginning of last year.
I also miss the low end grunt, but the EVO more than makes up for it with the precision of the steering.
As for Autocrossing, you have just gained almost 2 seconds just by switching to the EVO.
Enjoy! you won't regret it.
Yep, I'm fine, thanks. Yes, the side airbag did deploy: you can see it on the bottom of the interior picture. And, yes, there's lots of good parts to be salvaged from the wreck: basically everything but the body, driver's side doors, and driver's seat.
