Mitsu will do no such thing. If you get your info from SCC, they hype such rumors to the point of absurdity or call to arms as being the real deal.

First, they "claim" the 4g93 w/ GDI and Turbo (it has been out in Japanese market since around 98 or 00 for specality Pajero) will be in the EVO. Why would Mitsu drop displacement and use lower tech block?

Second, the GDI uses super high CR, and our gas has too much sulfur which would kill its specialized cat converter. Remove the cat and the motor won't run.

As for gimmicky valvetrain, has anyone looked at disgruntled Evo owners on their warranty from burnt clutches at 3K mileage, toasted t-cases before the 10K marker, and many more such stuff? It's like throwing leftover bacon grease in a kitchen fire.

GDI + MIVEC. Mitsu hasn't combined such technology, nor will they experiment it on their flagship car. It's like saying Mitsu will create a new flat 6 emgine for the Evo. They may try to experiement their project cars in WRC . . . look what they got them after the Evo 6 . . . looking at the back of pack.

Ya, Evo guys just love the idea of dropping displacement and using a 4g9x block.

Pinin GDI has the 4g94 GDI as do the Legnum (some version of the galant or diamante).

i'm hoping it wont have a set point cam difference, rather would have a infinitely variable valve timing, so it'll kill the lag somewhat.
I'm with you on that.

good point
