Evolution Reliability

I need to know an answer to Evo reliability.
Will Evos break down after 100k miles?
How long will it last if kept MOSTLY stock and driven properly?
What are the ratings for durability?
What are the percentage of in which these cars and car parts are made?

Thanks guys! Please answer these questions if you know them because I am indeed trying to get an Evo and to prove my point to someone. And if you have any other information I need to know or is a positive to Evos, please add! Thanks again!

they have some problems, like all cars. the two most common problems, the front rotors and the clutch. but if you drive normal they should last quite a long time. i beat my clutch to death, got 18000 mi on it. i changed it last weekend, the disk had half its life left. but i had to chane it because it was glazed so bad. and the rotors well mitsu could have done a better job

Question: What is the reliability of said Evo's owner?
There's just a lot more care that has to go into owning an Evo, that;s something some new owners don't understand. As for how long it lasts, that's hard to say.
No matter who you're selling it to though, I've got a few:
AWD, REALLY roomy back seats, ...back seats in general, american standard regulation childseat harness anchors like that are in ALL of mitsu's cars.
Um, I had more, I remember when my dad showed a picture to my mom of the car I wanted and she was like "he wants that big sedan?" and we just left it at that till after I got it...as far as she was concerned it was just a nice little sedan with AWD and an "ugly wing thing" on the back. If I think of more, I'll let you know.

yea... besides the clutch (which i personally have no problems with and only 12k on my 03) problems members have reported theres really been no big issues with stock evos, i think.

the motor will prolly last way over 100k if u do the regular oil changes with mobil 1 synthetic (well any synthetic really), and dont beat the **** out of it. the 4g63 can handle most anything u want to throw at it and prolly handle most things u wouldnt throw at it.

if u plan to leave it stock, or mostly stock, and know how to drive a clutch, then i see the evo being a very loving car to u. but be forwarned that once u drive one, the thought of WANTING to drive hard, or do a couple launches WILL enter into your head... be smart like me, have a friend with an evo that doesnt care much and has some money, and be the passenger, lmao

good luck on ur quest bro, and let us know how it goes!!!

reliability is not a easy thing to predict. assuming you got a car without defects and take care of it should last a long time. High performance cars invite drivers who want to push the envelope and the associated wear and tear is alot more significant than say a regular sedan driven by an elderly.

There is a simple answer to your question. It will last till YOU break it. Driven properly?? The way i drive or the way you drive?? Dont buy this car if your last penny is required to obtain one. You will go broke. If you loose your warranty, you must have cash to cover it. If your stupid, insurance will get you, More money. I cant imagine anyone owning one of these who makes less than 32K a year. If so, then you are a better money manager than i am, and ime good. Not trying to scare you out of it, but look at all the threads on here about people getting rid of their EVO's. When financial responsibility sets in, it can be rough!! Have fun!! RRR

even simpler, the faster you go the more expensive it gets. like a speeding ticket, go as fast as your checking account allows

it's a close to 300HP car for around 30K... it's going to have a short life and cost a lot to maintain just like every other fast car for cheap that has ever existed. I plan to get rid of mine between 50-100K somewhere... not a car I would want to own long term... they'll be just as reliable as DSM from 1990ish are today in a decade or so...

Yeah It would be virtualy impossible IMHO Right now at 40k and bad money management it can get tough anyone under 40k should play it safe and get the WRX , that was what i was going to do to be safe until I drove the EVO

man, evo's not that reliable. Everything squeeks, boost leaks...

Last time I went to the track, I kept running 13.8 and 13.7. Then all of a sudden I'm running 13.4 and 13.3.

man, unreliable like ****. Since I should be running high 12's Then. lol

All I can add is I had a 95gsx that was modded and it went 201000 with out ever changing anything but the valve cover gasket (except normal stuff) given it was litely modded I can only hope to get the same thing outta this 4g63!

I know what you mean, i almost went with a SRT-4. Couldnt find one in stock in 3 states, so ended up with the evo. The ********* wanted 37K for an STI. Said they were hard to get. I made the right call FOR ME. Get what you want, but BUY what you can afford. When the newness wears off, you will still need funds left over to live......RRR

the evos seem to be pretty reliable to me. i traded in an '03 silver one, and the only issue was the clutch going out, but that was a wear and tear item, and im sure will last much longer depending on how you drive the car. however, just because its reliable means its cheap. the evolution is a high performance vehicle, period. the 10-12,000 mile brake pads, 10,000 mile tires, less than 35,000 mile clutch (if you're driving pretty darn nice), and especially insurance all need to be factored into the equation. if you're driving it hard, the 2500-3000 mile oil change and filter replacement recommendation with strictly synthetic mobil 1 (suggested 10w-30 or 5w-30) doesnt help either.
