Evo VIII question

I looked at the pictures in the 2 manuals and it looks like the Evo VIII and the US Evo are the same thing? Is that right or no? If they are different, what is different?

As rumors go:

JDM GSR
1. 6-speed,
2. 2 dins, "just look at the radio"
Headlights "look at the orange markers
3. ACD "Active center differential" ON dash they have 3 setting "snow, gravel ,tarmac"
4. AYC "Active yaw control" It's basically a dynamic limited slip diff to prevent loosing control from oversteer.
5. More hp. All japanese cars claim 276hp but the evo is actually 300+
6. Titanium turbo
7. under 3100lbs
8. Very skinny recarios with high boasters
9. evolution badge by shifter.

U.S. evo
1. 5-speed
2. 1 din and cheap radio.
3. Dot legal headlight.
4. No ACD and definitely no AYC
5. 271hp
6. Titanium turbo??????
7. under 3300lbs "with 5speed!!!!!!"
8. Wide recarios for us Americans take that how you want but those evo 7 seats are tight and i dont' know if i can put up with that.

Note: This is just on top of my head. Maybe more features?

The USDM Evolution is built more for the American crowd. It needs to pass the regulations for crash tests AND also has about 1 ton of soundproofing. Whats next, 8 turns lock to lock steering and very soft springs for a nice ride?

I heard all the extra weight for the USDM Evo went into leaf springs.

I thought we were getting US spec seat warmers and that's where the weight went?!?! Or maybe they put dual climate control in there? heh

Or....... maybe they are smuggling people into the us via Evolutions, that weight is absurd.

Not to mention the weight ratio front to rear. I heard the VII had a very unbalanced 61:39 or something like that.

That doesn't mean anything, because the Evo VII's handling is neutral. This is what matters in the end and there are several ways in which it achieves this.

I always thought there was other factors though when it comes to this such as tire wear and brake fade.

You have a point there. I'm only refering to the aspect of handling in corners and how the weight can affect this, however from what I understand if the handling is neutral tire wear should be pretty even.

4. AYC "Active yaw control" It's basically a dynamic limited slip diff to prevent loosing control from oversteer.
Actually...according to that brochure that Rax posted of the JDM Evo...it appears as though the AYC system has been revised and evolved into a "Super AYC".

are you being sarcastic or are you serious? iron blocks are much stronger than aluminum for the extra heat generated by boost. iron blocks are a must.

iron blocks are prefered, but an iron sleeve can work too, but still not as good.
