Do you guys have any clue how much itwould cost to rebuild a ceramic ball bearing turbo? ALmost the cost of the turbo itself. Its like putting money into brakes so you will be able to avoid car accidents. You'd be stupid to not get a turbo timer if you're the kind of person who might potentially not let the turbo cool. Spend the 100 bucks, it might save you thousands.

The TT is a waste of money and worse yet, it can cause accidents. It's a total pain in the @ss and causes all kind of problems to service ppl or valets. Also, most ppl leave the car in gear when they stop the engine (I do, from long habit). It's awfully easy to turn off the key and get off the pedals with the car in gear..... Also, If you forget to set the e-brake and leave the car in neutral, it could easily roll into another car or some other object. Finally, there are instances where the TT installation causes problems with the electrical system.

The modern turbos do not appear to be so sensitive to normal driving. I've yet to read in the last 10 years of anyone with a or late model turbocharged car report of turbo damage due to lack of a TT. This includes WRXs, EVOs, Saabs, Volvos and lots of aftermarket F/I cars ( do you know how many turbo Saabs and Volvos there are? None have TTs) .

Besides, just how many times does the average person drives the dogsh!t out of their cars and immediately shut off the motor? My guess is one in a thousand and out of those, prolly less than 1% ever see any problems. Most people will drive at a normal, cruising or slow speed for a bit after driving the car hard. The vast majority will never drive the car so hard as to even need a cool down period unless they are at a track.

Bottom line, the TT is a useless or worse than useless piece of crap and IMHO, only a person who wants a hassle and wants to waste money should install one of those. I know this for a fact as I was one of the fools who installed one of those in his car
