Speed Limiter?

I wonder if the U.S spec evo will have a 112 MPH speed limiter in place like they use in Japan?

Good question. I wonder the same thing, it is probably the only thing that has not been brought up about the evo.

Dont think so. US has a higher overall speed than other conutries. Afterall, the Eclipse GSX didn't had one, there isn't any reason why they would put one on the evo. Besides, if they put one on the evo, there isn't any reason they would use the Z-rated tires if cut cost is mitsubishi's game......

I seriously doubt it. It would defeat the purpose of bringing the car to the U.S. The Euro spec EVO's do not have a limiter either.

Wasn't it Ralliart that removed that from the Eprom?

Maybe I should clarify....when the first showed up in the UK imported by ralliart UK.. they removed this limiter from the ECU upon it's arrival..I remember this as at first they would not touch the grey imports..

Yes, each RalliArt office (UK, GermanY, etc) will make it's own mods on the EVO as needed. The EVO's sold in the UK, Germany, Switzerland etc. all are without limiters.

So if we do not have ralliart anymore.....and the us lancer is a legitimate us model.....maybe a limiter will be present? anyhow if it is there it won't be long before someone figures out how to remove that sucker....In the UK the car is quoted to do about 157mph.......cooooool....

Nope, Eclipse GST had a 140 Limit, GSX had none because of the AWD. I personally has taken it to 151mph stock(my stupid teenage years)

Agreed, but to remove the limiter you just had to cut a capacitor in the ECU.

When was the last time anyone here did sustain over 120mph?

My car is limited to 137mph and have only gone up that high once and only for a brief moment.
