My personal opinion is: If your not even 18 yet, you shouldn't have an evo. I'm not jealous that your parents are going to buy one for you i think that its great that your that fortunate. But untill you can vote, buy your own health insurance, pay your own cell phone bill should you be entrusted with the power of an evolution. Im a young guy myself but i honestly think I'M too young to have one almost and i autox'ed my beater miata for 3 years (average 7 events per season) and i still think i shouldve bought another beater or paid for the skip barber and waited a few years. This car is amazing but it distracts me from classes, takes all my money and gets me into alot of arguements (people who say i had rich parents when i dont have any) Anyway i say get the TL or something a little less expensive and wait a few years to buy your own evo...it will make you feel alot better.
if i were u .. hmm ... well first tell us how old are u .. i my self waited long Enough ... since the evo7 was here ... now im gettin an evo mr ... just because i waited ! ..
Pationce my friend ... i know what u feel ..
every time i see an evo on the road i drool and dont pay attention to the road infront of me ..

People talk plenty of smack all the time even when they don't know the person, I'm a 16 year old at height of 6'2" and a junior in high school. I started working at Kumon math and reading center at the age of 15 because they were the only place who would hire me at that age. Throughout my high school career, I've been taking honor courses ONLY if possible, and I am currently taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses of US History and Calculus. This is probably proof of my maturity as a teen and a little sense how a car like the Evo will be treated if I had one.
My mom is willing to do this because I was willing to work my *** off all my life and obey to what she says, especially coming from an Asian background, I had to help her in her life to deal with translations to working the DirecTV. It may seem very spoil of me to get an Evo, but I'm trying my hardest to find the cheapest Evo. And from the insurance point of view, I am looking out for any student discounts or any other discounts to decrease my insurance.
Any comments welcomed and thanks for the past comments even the negative ones.
Update: I've been driving a 1997 Accord SE since October 25th, and not a bike.

I agree with whoever said to go more low key with your first/second car. When you're that young, accidents will happen. Nothing like gaining driving experience and working your way up to cars that demand more and more skill and dedication from you. When I got my license at 16, I bought a used '83 Sentra with a 4 speed manual. It was boring, but I loved it at the time as I was happy to have a car period. Good car to learn driving manual.
My first car was a used '87 Nissan Sentra with 3-spd automatic. Talk about fighting to maintain speed up a hill! Guess what, it ended up totaled. I'm glad it was a cheap pile instead of a $30K+ car.

dude, you're 16. No offence or anything. But we all know what it's like to be 16 and want something....but just stop now
For those of us in our 20's, 30's, and older it's kind of annoying to see a 16 year old on the board b_tching about his parents who are having a hard time letting their son get an EVO....a car that a large handful of people on this board worked years to be able to afford.
yes, you're in honors classes, AP classes, I'm sure you're a smart kid and all...but just because you do well on your tests in school does not mean you worked to get an EVO...it means you worked to get an education. And someday when you're making money on your own...buy your EVO and love it like the rest of us...but until then, dont' b_tch about mommy and daddy on the internet...be thankful for what they have given you...or in this case offered you...because thats a hell of a lot more than most parents offer their kids in your situation.
i waited 12 years b4 being able to buy 1 myself. now i have 2. TL is a nice car but it is FF. G35 is also nice but it is heavy. the only advantage these 2 cars have is free rentals when you car is serviced. they are also more money than the evo which translates into HIGHER CAR PAYMENTS!
tell her it's just a 4cyl 4 door stock Lancer. also tell her your family will have exclusivity by owning a ltd prod car that could appreciate in value...
i would also show her Automobile & Motor Trend mags with the awards the evo has won. those mags are for people who really aren't into cars but want the basics.

Alot of you guys are lucky with being able to have a car in you younger days. I was using public transit til I was 25. Sad isn't it. But like alot of people said, move up to a Evo because this car is alot to handle.
My choice for my first car was a 1987 dodge colt, with 106,000 miles, or a huffey 10 speed. I chose the dodge. Hey it had a Mitsubishi 4 cylinder
Engine ran past 200,000 miles.
Must be nice to be rich. I had to get a good job before i Could get a Nice car.

Derick, what grade do you have in AP US History? Here's a little test: Who was said to have converted over 1000 people in a day in Rochester, NY (during the Second Great Awakening)? What is the antiderivative of (6cos(t)/(2+sin(t)) . Antiderivative of 1-x/1-x^2.
Sorry for not using TeX and uploading an image, but I'm lazy.
By the way, taking an AP class and getting an "A" does insure that he is responsible and worked hard. If all of life was like taking 5 AP classes in a semester, I would ask God to smite me. Working that hard (for nothing) is like dying a living death.
