Tell her that you wont have to drive fast in a car that has nothing to prove. Thats what I told my wife....Now I have one.
BTW I used to drive a whole lot faster in my Maxima than I do in this car.

After all your guys comments, I'm not even b itching to my parents, you guys just flame whenever you guys have the opportunity and dont take the time to appreciate. And second of all, the choice that I wanted a Evo did not bother my mom financially, from different peoples point of views that may be selfish and snobby, but it isn't because I know my mom has worked hard for her money and now she owns two resturaunts, so I'm proud of her and the fact that she factors in reliability, tuneup cost and all the other maitenence requirements is why she liked the Acura TL more than the Evo.

So from everybody's negative comments, all I wanted to say in the beginning is that I like the EVO so much that, I rather take that instead of a 2005 Porsche. As a EVO enthusiast, I've been on this forum since around August 2004, and I have no relation with a Lancer yet. I hope all you will appreciate me for even supporting the EVO group, and instead of flaming me, give me tips on how to be a safer driver, control my speed, and on.

Thanks

just remember....it is way more car than u can handle.....take it easy for the first year. Then go from there. Ive got to say though....If it wasnt for a 16 year old kid whose parents bought him an EVO, and also thought that he was indestructable....Then I wouldnt have my car now. He wrecked it at 2200 miles...I bought it....fixed it and now have an EVO for less than 14k. So if you wanna make some guy like me real happy....then go ahead and drive like a crazy kid. And btw, I bet the next car your parents buy you wont be as nice as an EVO. So take it easy in this one.

I think I would be driving faster in a civic than in an Evo because as for civic you feel limited so you try to reach to the max. As another guy said before, "you have nothing to prove" in an Evo. Thanks for support Aussie.

no one is flaming you bro. i had the same attitude as you did when i was your age. but guess what, you do have a lot of experience to gain. these people are honestly looking out for your best intrests. in 10 years you'll understand why you need to earn things in order to "truly appreciate" them. i'm not saying you wont love your evo, or you have a great appreciation for the car. the fact is you do not have the driving experience for this kind of car. do your self a favor and drive something else around for 2 years, at least. then look into getting this car. and dont make your mom spend 30k on your first car. maybe i'm just jealous, my parents would never spend that kind of money on a car for me, because they know you need to work for the things you want on your own for. just the way things are and it will help mold you into a more responsible person. god i already sound like my parents, haha.

i'm not gonna flame you about your parents buying you an evo, i've known 2 people who got an evo purchased for them while still 16 or 17, it happens... dude, i'd honestly just try to see that you're in a relatively privelaged situation and realize that you should be pretty grateful with any of those cars you listed even if you gotta be the one paying for gas, insurance, or mods its still a pretty sweet deal.
good luck getting an evo, they're definitely sweet, i've driven them and they always remind me of my old talon except the actual car is hella nicer. if i could swing payments on an evo it would be up near the top of my list but i personally was shopping more for an economy car to commute with.

if you get it, i think the biggest thing is you're going to want to try to test the car's limits, most younger people do.... just try to make sure the motor is broken in, and you're not around anyone else that will get hurt if you mess up and remember that you can get the performance out of a car without beating the **** out of it.

I still think you’re spoiled. What your mom is offering is a leash. A nice comfy leash, see it for what it is. Don't tell me about maturity until you are paying your own way and making your own decisions.

If your mom has no sense and buys you one please take a high performance driving course. And stay out of South Orange County.

don't hate the player, hate the game. because otherwise you'll be played like the haters are supposed to be played.
