Awesome, everyones getting it!
Yeah it dosn't seem to be hurting anything, and I have heard from others that sometimes evos have noisey suspension. If its a natural thing, its all good I really didn't want to have this conversation with a mechanic:
"My suspension clunks"
"When?"
"Hardish cornering"
"Don't worry sir I'll test it personally"

Urgh.

I believe Works sell some also. Now for those with aftermarket coilovers, check the springs and make sure that they are seated properly. Even though they look right out of the box, check them anyway. One last thing, when you mount the shocks, make sure that surface of the mounts is clean of any debris or they might not seat right. Hope this helps you guys.
I suspected as much.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I'm getting ready to install some coilovers. I'm going to do one track day stock and go from there.

Do all Evo's have this? 03 - 05

My JIC's creak, they don't clunk, and sometimes they stop for awhile, or it switches sides, hasn't seemed to hurt a thing, but who the heck knows...supposedly that's just cuz they're cold

the clunk happens after when you go over a bump or small pothole....the springs unsettles then when you turn a certain degree it spring tries to reseat it self.....my theory anyways ...took to the dealer in the spring time then in winter and the technicians could not replicate the noise so I learn to live with it....

I had a front suspension clunk after a tranny replacement. I never had it before the tranny was replaced. After I got an alignment and wheel balance, it was gone. I did not get to ask the mechanic what he did. I do not know if this helps. The suspension is stock.

It's probably your bushings. I had that same problem but on the driver side of the car. If you're car is still under warranty take it in and they'll replace them. I took it to mitsu and they took it for a ride and they heard the clunking and replaced it. Now everything is okay. There's another thread like this that's in the normal lancer forum. it's most likely your bushings. Hope this helps

My EVO had the clunk from day one, replaced the suspension with Ohlins...same clunk. Most likely not the springs or struts. Bushings? More likely.

I've yet to notive a "clunk" in my suspension. But, now I'm reluctant to add lowering springs.

I dont think the clunk will ever be solved. Alot of the Euro guys with older Evos have the same problem. Hell I got it in my VI. It was thrown around that it was the Top mounts/hats (what ever you call it) but sometimes is was fixed and sometimes it wasnt. I guess it is one of those things you just have to live with.
