My whole point is that the car IS being broken in correctly. I am not launching it or running it out to redline, or doing anything other than following proper break-in. It just feels a bit slower as the miles have gone on.

Maybe I should have worded my post different....aaaarrgh.

Is there a good place to find Technical Service Bulletin information for our cars and the std. Evolution? I can't find anything on this site.

The only reason I ask is when I had my MazdaSPEED Protege I couldn't find any information about that car in regards to TSBs, I relied on forums to tell me about TSBs.

Is there a website that has the TSBs available for viewing?

Thanks for all the quick replies.

It's probably just the weather. Turbo's love cold weather. (operate more efficently for those non emotional types )

I'm Not gonna pretend I know whats wrong but this NHTSA website lists all TSBs and recalls for every vehicle that can be registered on US highways. I checked the 05 MR and they had nothing listed. BTW when you are doing the search of their database and you don't see the make and model of your car in the pull down menu then there are no TSBs or recalls for it. Check it out, I used this site for my 00 eclipse and there was a new TSB like every week my dealer got real sick of seeing me

I would chalk it up to that, you're getting used to it. I'll also agree with the throttle thought, sometimes it feels like 3/4 throttle all the way to redline works better than just nailing it sometimes...

Someone had mentioned boost leak? I guess this would be a possibility, but on brand new car what is the likelyhood that a hose or something else could be causing the leak.

As a hypothetical question, is the MR at wide open throttle say in 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear, etc. supposed to stay pegged at 1.5bars of boost throughout the whole gear until you shift, OR does it boost there for a brief period of time and then slowly back off as the RPM's build.

My observations from what I am seeing; mind you I am no expert on this vehicle yet or its behavior, but it does appear that at WOT for the short time I can do it (mind you I am still breaking it in ) the boost builds to 1.5bars briefly (sometimes it does not always boost to a full 1.5bars) and then slowly backs off, it does not sustain that level of boost at all times at WOT.

1-2 psi of leak shouldn't feel that much slower. Really the way my 03 GSR boosts is it goes to about 20 and then tapers down to 16psi as RPM's increase. I have no MBC or anything to increase boost.

I have heard stories on people that break in their EVO's for a full 1000 miles and others that just beat the crap out of it the first day thet get it. There doesn't seem to be a full consensus on whether this is good or bad. For a liability stand point I would argue that Mitsu tells you to be gentle so you learn the potential of the car before you start going really really fast. This to me seems to make more sense.

I would have to disagree though that after 400-500 miles I would think the power is still new to you. Just wait till your past breakin and then you can really get on it. You may disagree with what your saying here already. As far as gas 1 octane point should make no difference, although there could have been other impurities in the gas that your car is not liking. If all else fails take it in to the dealer and make sure everything is 100%.

Oh Yeah....buy my catback exhaust I have for sale...it will pickup some lost power for ya!

I think it may be the gas I used. I did happen to top off the last tank which was 93 octane I bought at Holiday with about 5 gallons of 92 octane from Amoco.

I find it hard to believe 1 octant point could cause the loss of performance.

As far as breaking it in, I have been careful...plenty careful.
i have a 05 mr & i didnt even touch 5k rpms(maybe 5 or 6 times) during the first 750 miles which is the recommended rpm not to exceed during break in....as far as WOT i NEVER opened it up until after 650...

Yea, my friends had the same problem. Let her brake in some more. Change the oil at 1000 miles. My friend did that. He said the car felt like new again. Also try an Ecu tune My car feels like night and day, and get her on the dyno. See what its putting down stock.

Yeah, I agree about not abusing the car which I am not. I treat it VERY well and watch it. I am taking it into the dealer next week to have the Hyper ground wires installed and pick up the other accessories.

I know with my 1995 Z28 when I thought the power had dropped off on it they went out with me on a ride and hooked up a computer to show engine statistics/data and everything was checking out OK.

So I will just have the dealership do a drive along and have them look everything over to make sure something is not wrong.

Thanks for all the input I appreciate it, it's quite the car and I am very pleased/happy with it plus I can cart my 2 kids around which is all the more better .

Yea man, owning this car sucks! In a good way of course!

If there is a boost leak wouldn't it show up on the boost guage?? My MR defineltly feels faster when it's colder. Almost 1000 miles and still haven't takin it over 5500 rpms. I may have to check in at redline pretty soon.
