2005 Evolution MR performance issue?

Hey everyone, I have a quick question -

I have a 2005 Lancer Evolution MR that I just bought from the dealership, for around the first 250 miles the car seemed to pull real strong through 1-3rd gear. Now, I have around 450 miles now and for some reason the car doesn't seem to pull as strong at partial or wide open throttle regardless of what gear it's in.

To me it's almost as if the car lost torque/HP, and just generally seems a bit lazier.

The only variable that has changed would be the temperature that has changed from around 20-30 degrees F to around 50 degrees F.

Has anyone else experienced a loss of performance or accelleration on their MR's after a few hundred miles? Is there a TSB for this issue? Does anyone recommend a reputable place that has the TSB's for this car?

Thank-you for your input.

First of all how hard did you push it during these miles? Are you doing a proper break-in?

the other things is u could be used to the power of the car now. so the pull might not feel the same as it was when u first got it. i know that happened to me.

Ohh..I forgot to put that in. Intercooler is more efficient with colder temps.

I bet your just used to the power. I'm so used to my car I wonder if is even fast anymore. Unfortunately, once you get used to the power, it's like growing a tolerance for a drug. Then you start modifying thinking, oh, I'll just get an exhaust. Then you get an exhaust, and a week later, oh I'll just get a drop in filter, a week later, oh I'll just get a turbo kit, some cams. Like a drug man.

If by "pushing it hard" you mean -

1. Dropping the clutch at high RPM's.
2. Not keeping it at REDLINE for extended periods of time.

Then the answer is absolutely NO.

I have been following proper break-in so far and have not been harsh or hard on the vehicle at all. Does this mean that I don't open it up a little of course not.

I own a 2002 Ducati 998, so I am used to a 10 second 1/4 mile bike.

It's weird the car just seems to not pull as hard, maybe I am getting used to the power. Sometimes it does feel like partial throttle in certain situations is stronger than WOT.

Also, what is with the round stopper beneath the gas pedal on the MR?

Thank-you for all your input! I appreciate it!

The car got angry...LOL your kidding right?

I think it may be the gas I used. I did happen to top off the last tank which was 93 octane I bought at Holiday with about 5 gallons of 92 octane from Amoco.

I find it hard to believe 1 octant point could cause the loss of performance.

As far as breaking it in, I have been careful...plenty careful.

I think you did not break-in properly. You should have driven it easily for the first 600 miles. After that, drive it whatever you like.

sorry to hijack this thread, but i just got my mr on wednesday last week, and i drove it kinda hard... specifically i was accelerating hard (flooring the gas), however i was shifting already at 5k rpm, i rarely went over that, however been flooring it. also, i hit 80mph a couple time at around 350 miles on it, and been hitting 100mph multiple times when i had about 500miles on it. i just came from vegas and put miles on it. now i have about 700 miles.
