when the hell are we going to get a real test?

I would have thought with about 1-1.5 months until arrival that the big magazines would have road tested the evo by now.?

I think the S2000 was in the September issue (usually out in early august) although the car didn't show up until Sept 20th.

I just want to see some fairly concrete numbers. I know magazine racing is not 100% accurate, but for the most part the big 3 come up with pretty reasonable numbers as a whole.

I would like motor trend to do a full test on the evo. The results will determine my decision between the two cars. IF they gave a i'm 100% not waiting for the sti. Magazing racing is the only thing we have at this point .

What if the sti is better? Maybe i should try to find a refundable deposite for a sti right now?

Both the STI and Evo will be a dominate force to be recon with on the streets or track. Regardless of what the Magazine will publish from both cars, you can't go wrong with these well built Turbo AWD Sedan!

Some days i feel evo all the way.

1. nearly 1g (I have a feeling better handling)
2. Projector xenons.
3. Good old 4G63
4. Recarios

Some days i feel sti is the better bet.
1. very strong 6 speed tranny
2. DCCD
3. no replacement for displacement
4. LSD front

I could probably afford 35K if i waited for the sti. I'm so confused. One second evo, another STI. I've always liked the evo but this time the subarus is different with DCCD and 2.5L. What to do? I'm getting the evo 8 regardless but i'm really considering putting money down for sti.

Anybody works for car magazine knows when we are getting testings on these wonderful vehicals? We're waiting.

i personally think I will be plenty happy with the evo. It should be fast enough, reliable enough and do everything I need it to. I won't be dragracing it much, I have a different "track" car that has a rollcage.... this will be my fast kid hauling commuter car.

plus the evo will be here 3 months sooner than the STI... 3 months is 90 days... that is 60 work days.... 120 roundtrips..

I am guessing that next months issues should definately have full press release test drives. Obviously I don't really know for sure, I just feel like it should be that way.

Edit: And Off-topic, this is a note to GTR. I have noticed that you always say "recario". I believe you mean recaro, as in the seats ( http://www.recaro.com/ ), but I have no idea why you always put an "i" in there.

In my opinion, I'd at least put down a deposit on the STi. The Evolution that America is getting is a good car, but nothing spectacular compared to others worldwide. But the STi we're getting will be the best IN THE WORLD! (aside from the, what, 200 S202's they made for the JDM. ) Japan is getting 280 hp, UK is only getting 260. We're getting 300 hp, 300 tq. Not often America gets something like that, so I'm damn sure going to take advantage of it!

You are absolutely right. But I just can't afford a $33K subie with no radio and most likely a markup. Everytime I say STi, the price always brings me back to reality. Evo for me. I'm gonna be jealous when I see an STi, I'm not gonna lie.

I would be willing to put money down on the JDM STi over the US STi every day! First, I don't believe that 276/280 HP is even close to the real rating of the thing, and better turbo, Auto feature on the DCCD and probably less weight should win over!

Out of the U.S mags only trust Car and Driver. Why you ask? Because they do the most accurate testing and actually have several very good drivers. The very best source (in English) is the U.K.'s EVO, and CAR mags. Those guys get it!

I like the way you think. Don't forget about those trips to lunch.

I will be taking mine on sales calls every Friday. It will be a much needed break from my company car (Taurus wagon )
I have a feeling a few co-workers will be going on calls with me too on Fridays.
